Maybe they’ll send them to Madagascar.

Bitrot, to linux in Red Hat / Fedora drama?
@Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Fedora is not a separate legal entity. Red Hat literally owns it. At one time they had considered creating a separate Fedora Foundation but did not.

Because I like going through life with a 2-5% discount on everything I buy.

Google Latitude was doing this in 2009 and I knew millennials who used it. Much more widespread now, though.

Bitrot, to linux in What has VALVE (Steam) done for LINUX and KDE?
@Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Certainly more than the Romans have done for us.

Google also assists those law enforcement agencies with plenty of useful info.

People who use those characters benefit from it. I imagine 點看 is more useful than xn–c1yn36f to a Chinese person. That’s also why Google displays them that way.

It would be nice if browsers warned when International Domain Names were in use, and provided the option to disable punycode when first encountered.

Bitrot, to asklemmy in Would you say enthusiast grade or business grade products are better quality?

Those workstation GPUs are also usually not very good for gaming, for the same reasons. Optimized for the professional use case and not the enthusiast one.

Bitrot, to asklemmy in Would you say enthusiast grade or business grade products are better quality?

Business grade will also be chugging along while the enthusiast has replaced the thing five times over.

I really think it depends on the product. People talking about low end keyboards or whatnot aren’t far off, but I’d take a good business laptop any day. It won’t have fancy RGB lights but will keep working forever.

Bitrot, to asklemmy in Who's going to pay for the reconstruction of Gaza
@Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

They won’t in this case. Israel can do nearly anything, the US will even condemn some of them, but that won’t affect support. As Biden has said many times “if there was no Israel the US would have to invent an Israel to protect her interests in the region.”

WARN applies to companies with 100 or more full time employees, so they could potentially be just shy of the number. There are also some exceptions that could apply. I worked at a place that from the layman’s reading you would think had an exception, they were sued in a class action and ended up having to pay some (although a tiny amount to most of us). It seems like the exceptions might be a pretty high standard to meet.

$1,000 to a campaign in 2008. A majority of Californians voted that way, btw. Good chance many of those millions of voters (and campaign donators) make your tech.

He’s done other things like his covid noise, continuing to use that one 15 years later shouldn’t sway many.

So has Spotify, and off and on the enable or disable easy access. In the past it was Spotify stations (standalone app), for a while you could create recommendation playlists based on artists, genres, or decades. Now they do it for you by making playlists like those themselves, “mix” playlists, “day list”, suggestions in shuffle, never ending playlists, and a bunch of other similar things that attempt to select things they think you’ll like.

Every Noise at Once shows some of the linkages using a ton of their dynamically generated genre playlists: everynoise.com

Bitrot, to upliftingnews in Texas church launches program to help fund transgender kids’ healthcare
@Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

This is the kind of church that evangelicals love to hate, starting with women leadership and continuing with their use of “no bullshit” on their site.

If you or your family needed the money and they were offering, you might feel differently. Not sure what the point of the con would be, Texas isn’t trying to prosecute people who leave Texas yet.

Listen to George HW Bush, from Texas, talking about immigration in a debate with Reagan (who also talks about “an open border both ways”). Reagan ruined a lot of things, but it still used to be different. youtu.be/YsmgPp_nlok
