Q would have said,

“Oh the Husnock? Horrible, simply horrible species. Good riddance. Did you ask me here to give Uxbridge a medal or something? Because he certainly doesn’t deserve it! Why I’ve already genocided three species this morning and didn’t even get a thank you.”

Blue_Morpho,

Keeping the same language so no mistranslation is no barrier for religious wars. Shia and Sunni do fine despite both having the Koran in original Arabic.

Janeway didn’t get hate as much as it was criticism of the writers for making her inconsistent. One week it was “Prime directive no matter the consequences”, the next was “Lets do whatever to make drama.”

For all of Roddenberry’s faults, his presence for the early years of TNG kept TNG consistent instead of allowing the writer of the week to change characters for their personal story. By the time he was gone, the formula was set such that writers wouldn’t mess with characters.

Voyager has no singular authority so consistency of character was rare.

Edit: Except for Ensign Kim. He was born an Ensign and died one. Nobody messed with perfection.

Blue_Morpho,

?? Pluto has been streaming DS9 for years. The “More Trek” channel isn’t new either.

Blue_Morpho,

I watch that channel all the time. It’s always been DS9 and Voyager. Is it just DS9 now 24/7?

Blue_Morpho,

And as stated both have their merits and their faults.

Yes! Just because a compiler could guess the type doesn’t mean it should. Elon didn’t understand the meme at all.

Blue_Morpho,

She wanted to be on Becker so it was her fault. Berman could have been nice and written her into fewer episodes. But it was her moving to a major network show that killed her off.

Blue_Morpho,

I like Wil but his actor skills are gone. His appearance in Picard was cringingly bad. Although I partly blame the director for allowing such a bad performance to go to print.

Blue_Morpho,

Yeah Berman was a misogynistic jerk but she wanted out to go to Becker.

Eureka was 18 years ago!

I expected something like Wesley from the TNG episode, Journey’s End where he was fantastic. Instead it was like if you put Adam Savage on set and told him to geek out about being on Trek.

Becker was a high profile major network show which would have gone along with a major salary increase. If she really wanted to leave, she wouldn’t have ask to stay but written out of more episodes so as to not conflict with her Becker schedule.

Blue_Morpho,

Like I said, he was a misogynistic jerk. But if she was so keen on leaving she wouldn’t have asked for stories to be re-written so she could stay on ds9 while doing Becker.

Blue_Morpho,

Except their free tier is still around for everything that they started as free. Outlook, bing, Visual Studio Code, even office is free for students and teachers.

They’ll always keep the low tier free to get people hooked and charge businesses whatever.

Blue_Morpho,

Yeah they didn’t gave a free Office, Outlook or Visual studio. Now they do and there is no sign of them stopping it. Bing is expensive and they aren’t stopping it.

Chatgpt is MS’s first real chance of dethroning Google search. They’re going to keep a free tier forever.

Blue_Morpho,

I don’t know where you shop but DeWalt is cheaper than Milwaukee and Makita. Project Farm tests show Milwaukee as usually best but trades wins against Makita.

So no, DeWalt isn’t overpriced. It’s cheaper and less quality. Neither is Milwaukee equivalent to DeWalt. Milwaukee/Makita are better, sometimes incredibly better than DeWalt but at a much higher price.

For example a drill with battery on Amazon is:

DeWalt: $99 Makita: $149 Ryobi: $73 Milwaukee: $144

At Home Depot and Lowes, the price difference between DeWalt and Milwaukee is even bigger.

Blue_Morpho,

That’s only good if you can bring your work to your garage.

Blue_Morpho,

I’m not hauling my portable compressor into my attic, nor do I have an extension cord that can reach the end of my yard. It stays in my garage. Even then I prefer battery tools because of the noise when the compressor kicks on.

Blue_Morpho,

1/2" drill/driver. The Milwaukee comes with 2 3a batteries compared to DeWalt having 1 4 ah which explains $50.

www.homedepot.com/p/…/325544370

Although I also see a $99 Milwaukee with a single 2 Ahr battery which is weird because the tool alone is $129.

It will last about 5 years. I have one. The rubber handles fall off and the chrome plating peels.

Blue_Morpho, (edited )

It’s not one piece. It looks like one piece but the rubber handles eventually separate. The past couple of years I have used it without the rubber handle covers.

Blue_Morpho,

It’s funny how quickly Lemmy turns on a dime between “Linux is easier than Windows” in threads about adopting Linux to “spend some time learning the terminal” when presented with a question that should be a single click (installing an app).

Before the hate train starts, I’ve been using Linux off and on for 30 years now. And I still struggle with making distros do things that shouldn’t be that hard because they aren’t hard in Windows.

Are we to believe that Kevin Sorbo just fell together from random chemicals? Kevin Sorbo is proof there is a god of Kevin Sorbos who makes the Sorbos. Just like there’s a god of making Sorbos gods. That’s why they say they have a personal relationship with their God. It’s their personal God, who is completely different than the other gods.

It’s gods all the way down.

Blue_Morpho,

What VPN do you use? I used Mulvad in the past but I’ve read they stopped port forwarding so torrenting is broken with them now.
