I think the inescapable police state is a side effect of a secret society living amongst highly emotional violent psychopaths. The need to make sure that kind of mindset and behaviour is kept under strict control would be pretty high, since there is always the possibility. Of course what they did to the Remans is pretty unforgivable, but inescapable police states do tend to lean towards strict caste systems and somebody needs to do the dirty work.
I just find that the A story detracts from the Dominion Wars storyline that everything had been building up to, and the B story is just uninteresting with Jake following Quark's antics to distract Odo with Kira. At least 'Profit And Lace" had some comedy in it to make up for things.
Just remember that the placebo effect is only effective in a small percentage of the population, and is consistent with any other substances that may induce this phenomenon. That's how they know when something actually works...it works in the majority of people, not just that small percentage.
People saw things going up 100% in price from one day to the next, compared to a 2% per year savings account. That’s very enticing for anyone.
And that's the entire problem...by the time things go up in price by 100%, the people that will make money have already made it. Getting in at that point is useless, and will likely lose money.
Not the specifics, but by the mysterious circumstances around his father's death as leader of the club which Jax is obviously destined to take over is foreshadowing.
Yeah, that's a nice idea until I realize I can forget the bags in the car just as easily as I can forget to bring them from home. Fortunately I don't carry a purse, or I'd forget that in the car too.
When I worked for Bell, they had just ended their WFH policy. I was required to be in the office every day. The rest of my team was still under the policy according to their contract, including my boss who was a 10 minute walk from the office, so they all worked from home. And most of my meetings involved teams in 3 different cities, not to mention the fact that it was Bell, so all meetings were over the phone with a screen sharing app. There were some other people that worked in the office, but they worked with different teams so I didn't interact with them beyond saying "hi" in the break room as I was getting coffee. But it was apparently very important that I be in the office.
Some days I really appreciate the fact that I left IT.
You can be offensive and funny at the same time. But it's an extremely fine line, and difficult to pull off. Watch Jimmy Carr if you want to see it done properly.
