To paraphrase ’ a Chrome by any other name would smell as sweet’

Cheradenine,

That was amazing. Someone linked to alibaba where you could buy the same 4? Year old phone for something like $120USD. Someone else dredged up a weird eastern European connection for the ‘FOSS’ OS. And they promised support, which ended when you bought the pos.

Cheradenine,

Your original link is blocked at DNS level on my ‘Threat intelligence’ blocklist.

And that link is blocked at DNS level by ‘Toxic’ and ‘Stop Forum Spam’ filters.

So it’s blocked before the browser can even connect for me.

There’s also this gem at the end

Cheradenine,

Looks pretty terrible honestly. Besides what others have said, just visiting their site jshelter says they are fingerprinting you, uBlock Origin blocks a bunch of stuff like google fonts, Facebook, fastly, and a bunch more.

Then there is this ‘Zangi is based on new 5G-standard internet transport technologies, which provide revolutionary results in real-time communication.’ Which is asinine on a bunch of levels.

Just use SimpleX, it works great.

Milo? What do you do with it?

I was gifted a 900 Gram bag of Milo (I assume that’s some shrinkflation crap). I love Malt and Cocoa, but this is bland and chalky. What do I do with it? So far I have tried it hot and cold on its own and mixed in coffee hot and cold. My next thought was using it in baked goods, something like an American Brownie....

Cheradenine,

OK, I will try that. As much as I love the basic ingredients, I am not loving Milo. That’s without going into the Nestlé thing.

Cheradenine,

They’re basically exercise bikes, but much more expensive and awkward.

Cheradenine,

Fucking thank you. As I said in another reply, if this was true my firewall logs would be full, or my data cap blown in a week.

Cheradenine,

So you are saying ‘I have nothing to hide’.

Cheradenine,

But it’s so much more than that. It’s a privacy nightmare in general and a boon for anyone interested in blackmail.

Totally gonna work this time though.

Such a complicated series of tubes, ye olde internet.

Cheradenine,

As the article says, Apple and Google both do it. Apple disclosed it, Google did not.

How is your conclusion ‘I don’t trust Apple’?

(Discussion) 2 day cold ferment, underproofed, underbaked, Tomato and Olive Bread (sh.itjust.works)

I cut 2 slices off, and they were terrible, as the title says. Gummy, flavor not fully developed. Exactly what I want. This is what I want from a sandwich bread. I will slice and toast this for the next few days. Toasting will firm it up, develop Maillard reactions, and allow any liquid to be sponged up. Marinated Pork Belly,...

Cheradenine,

Personal device, personal stuff

Cheradenine,

This is a guess, but maybe butyric acid produced by anerobic bacteria? Butyric acid is ‘buttery and unpleasant’ vs Diacetyl which is a lot of the smell in good butter, and should be in Cheddar (and many other cheeses).

As far as safety, I don’t know.

Cheradenine,

It really will grow almost anywhere, and it costs you nothing if you use the redheaded stepchildren, smallest cloves for greens. (You probably can’t say that anymore, but since I am one, evs yo).

Helping others privacy through self-hosting?

Hello all, I’m relatively new to the realm of self-hosting. Over the past few months, particularly in response to recent events, I’ve been actively advocating for privacy, security, and decentralization. Initially, I began by implementing Nextcloud for my family and friends, and later expanded to include services like...

Cheradenine,

Thanks for the trauma, my mom did Tuna Casserole. Canned tuna, some kind of creamed condensed soup, topped with potato sticks. I had actually suppressed this memory.

I can’t really see a way forward with those ingredients.

Cheradenine,

Motherboard did an extensive series of articles about this, they even got an an0m phone.

Cheradenine,

It was from making fresh cheese. Milk taken to a simmer, held for 10 minutes, then added white vinegar and herbs (thyme, marjoram, oregano). Turn off heat, let come to room temperature, drain in a sieve for an hour, take the solids and refrigerate until needed. Mix your flour, with yeast in this case, add the acid whey.

It adds a lot of flavor. I don’t know what the challenge is, but I often see that you ‘can’t add X amount’ (often 25-30%) acid whey and make bread. You really can, just takes a bit longer since your yeast or sourdough needs to adapt to what is a pretty hostile and unfamiliar environment.
