Churbleyimyam,

Haha what sort of thing were people posting on it?!

Churbleyimyam,

Currently imagining a community that is only a place for lurkers to post in.

Churbleyimyam,

Festool is not on this list because Festool owners NEVER GET ANYONE PREGNANT.

Churbleyimyam,

If I had enough money for Festool stuff I would probably just pay someone else to do the job instead!

Churbleyimyam,

Blue pill: I would die of boredom if I had to go back to school for more than a couple of days.

Churbleyimyam,

Debian is solid and will come ready with office and web apps. You might want to check out if drivers are available for your printers though. You can always try it out on a live USB.

Churbleyimyam,

Try a live USB - you might be surprised how easy and intuitive it is to use now.

Churbleyimyam,

My distro came with Rhythmbox and I’ve pretty much just stuck with it. It does podcasts and radio which I appreciate and I can also edit track metadata in it. For playing music from my file browser I use MPV because it’s fast.

Churbleyimyam,

I got it working with yt-dlp. I had to reinstall mpv as a flatpak from flathub; it wouldn’t work with a package install from my repo or a flatpak from fedora. I think at least as of yesterday it needed to be a very up-to-date release. Posting in case this helps someone else.

Churbleyimyam,

Are you an adult?

Churbleyimyam,

The problem is that would also ban anyone else who might be on the same IP. VPN, Tor exit node, public WiFi etc. Nothing beats a well staffed moderation team and other users willing to report abuse IMO.

Churbleyimyam,

I don’t like flatpak any more because it makes restoring snapshots take forever.

Churbleyimyam,

I’ve gone back to using packages from my repo. I was all-in with flatpaks for a while because they tend to be more up to date than my distro’s packages and I liked the idea of the sandboxing but in practice I’ve found it a nuisance getting applications to speak to each other and I don’t like all the redundant code bloating my internal drive. The thing that really did it for me though was the other day when I had to restore my system from a Timeshift backup. It took an hour and a half to restore a recent backup, with well over 90% of that time showing as flatpak stuff.

Churbleyimyam,

Ironically you could use a Stable Diffusion AI plugin to remove the watermark in GIMP.

Churbleyimyam,

I did this recently but for gnome. There are some cool custom splashes at gnome look - maybe there is something similar for KDE too.

Churbleyimyam,

Yeah: don’t spend 18 hours drinking and taking cocaine.

Churbleyimyam,

Check out YUNOhost. If you’ve gone off Nextcloud and just want to sync files you could simply install Syncthing and be done with it.

Churbleyimyam,

This sounds very cool and I’d definitely use it.

Churbleyimyam,

I think some people become parents for this reason. For better or worse…

Churbleyimyam,

I hope you are using newsboat and opening web pages in w3m

Churbleyimyam,

Yeah, if you’ve ever done some serious hiking you know you wouldn’t want to haul around a gun. Also, imagine being in a shootout while wearing a massive backpack.

Churbleyimyam,

Some harsh comments about GIMP here. I think it’s fantastic. Totally bailed out my workplace when the Adobe Extortion Suite decided break on our machines. I use it at home too and I’m grateful for it.

Churbleyimyam,

I don’t get the joke but upvote because sesame street.

Churbleyimyam,

The guy on the left has mp3, the guy on the right has aif and the guy in the middle has flac
