TrueNAS is very good at being a NAS. I used it for some time but eventually moved to CasaOS because it’s better at being a home server.

ubuntu is fine lol especially for a newbie. Zorin is really familliar for a windows user.

I use it. It’s great. I’ve tried Linux many times over the past decade but it never stuck until Zorin. If you’re coming from Windows it’s a very friendly (and polished) way of being welcomed to Linux while also showing off Linux’s strengths, things that are often hidden to the user unless they want to explore the terminal.

For Mac users who are Linux-curious I would recommend Ubuntu because it’s much similar, whereas Zorin seems clearly designed with people who liked Windows 10 but not Windows 11.

If you’re sharing with other people who don’t have a 4K screen or don’t have the bandwith to stream 4K, it uses a lot of system resources to transcribe 4K content down to something manageable, so some people find it easier to just keep two copies.

You need two versions of Readarr. Yes, that’s just how it is. Just like if you wanted a 4K and non-4K radarr.

HoloISO is SteamOS for non Steam Decks. That would be great option for something that “just works” and is designed for use from the couch with a controller. I haven’t tried this but I’m sure there’s a way to install Kodi for media too.

I have an issue in general with scifi totally ignoring the existence of bicycles, but star trek is particularly fun to think about since in so many situations beaming down in an away team with electric mountain bicycles would be incredibly useful in a basic utilitarian sense. NuTrek was coined to refer to the Kelvinverse films (in a pejorative way) for being edgy and shallow like “NuMetal”, but the “anti woke” crowd ruined it just like everything else.

Camp is an intentionally over-the-top stylistic choice, it’s a specific well defined style. It doesn’t just mean “silly” or “cheesy”. Star Trek isn’t camp.

My pet peeve is when people call (Disco and onward) “NuTrek” because that term was created to mock the “NuMetal” Kelvinverse films for their shallowness.

Now it’s mostly used by people who complain about “wokeness” or “forced” diversity or what have you.
