That comment is so idiotic and/or bad faith that I totally get removing it. Better to remove it than clog up the comments with a dozen people trying to explain why they’re wrong and the OP likely sea lioning them all.

I’d rather we stop giving shitloads of money to violent cartels. The only way to do that is full legalization, including the supply chain.

Cornelius_Wangenheim, to asklemmy in What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

The idea that SSRI antidepressants work by increasing serotonin levels. If that were the case, why don’t they start working immediately? Instead, most people don’t see positive effects for several weeks.

Cornelius_Wangenheim, to memes in Oh, is that so?

Sudo is proving you have the privileges. An admin wouldn’t be stopped in Windows either.

Cornelius_Wangenheim, (edited ) to lemmyshitpost in My whole night is booked now

I played with Goonswarm back during their rise to power in 2005-2010, probably the most interesting time period in the game.

I agree, avoid it like the plague and just read about it instead. The game itself is a boring grind and playing at the top level is basically a full time job.

It’s basically the same with English always using a hard G for native English words. The complication comes from the fact that English preserves the pronunciation and spelling of loan words and loan words make up something like half of all words in English. The vast majority of words in English that use a soft G are French or Latin loan words, with a few Greek words that had their pronunciation latinized.

Cornelius_Wangenheim, to memes in Calculus? Nah, bro, that's easy stuff

No, it makes acid-set cheese, of which ricotta is a type. Buttermilk is the liquid leftover after you make butter.

It’s really only kids / idiots that overflow the toilet, since it takes several flushes on a fully clogged toilet to get the water level that high.

Cornelius_Wangenheim, to mildlyinteresting in "Do you live in the Midwest?" by self-report

Texan here. Oklahoma definitely has more in common with Kansas than Texas. I’d call it Great Plains, which has a lot of overlap with the midwest but isn’t quite the same thing.

Cornelius_Wangenheim, to upliftingnews in Tumor-destroying sound waves receive FDA approval for liver treatment in humans

They basically bounce the sound waves off a parabolic mirror, so that they come from multiple directions but converge on one spot. The spot where they converge is the only place where the sound waves are strong enough to cause cavitation.

This is actually a fairly mature technology that has been used to treat kidney stones for decades (lithotripsy).

Cornelius_Wangenheim, to comicstrips in "Good Boy" by Sarah's Scribbles

I saw a video of 3 goodest boys maul a guy to death one time.

Or, like, insects.

Cornelius_Wangenheim, to memes in Feel old?

It’s actually mostly plankton. Most traditional oil deposits formed from shallow seas.
