CosmicCleric, to asklemmy in What's an amusing thing to say before going under general anesthesia?

I went with the Leslie Nielsen quote from the movie Airplane, “I just wanted to say good luck, we’re all counting on you.”

From the articles…

The union is so far being mum on the details of the agreement, which will likely emerge in the next few days prior to the union’s ratification vote.

I wonder why?

CosmicCleric, to piracy in Prime is adding ads to their streaming service
@CosmicCleric@lemmy.world avatar

This is such a weird way of announcing/implementing a $3/month increase for Prime video by Amazon, and a lot more destructive PR-wise too.

CosmicCleric, (edited ) to linuxmemes in This truly is the year of the linux desktop
@CosmicCleric@lemmy.world avatar

Do we really want to be bigger anyway?

YES. It needs more market share to influence companies financially to make products for it.

It’s truly starting to make inroads recently, but it still has a ways to go.

I kind of like where Linux as a desktop isn’t really big enough for all the scammers and malware makers to care.

It’s also not big enough for gaming companies to truly care, unfortunately.

Actually when I made the joke, I got zero laughs in the operating room. I had to explain the joke, and still got no real comment/laugh.

I finally followed it up with a Rodney Dangerfield version of “Tough room” and that got a chuckle finally.

My new favorite comic site. Thank you for sharing.

CosmicCleric, to piracy in Sony is going to remove certain purchased titles from user libraries
@CosmicCleric@lemmy.world avatar

That list of shows that’s being removed is huge too.

God I hope people reconsider purchasing products from companies that do these kind of things to them.

At some point you think if they get smacked up the side of their heads enough times that they will actually wake up and do something about it.

Apology for hijacking your comment, but I wanted to ask you a question about the Creative Commons link you put at the end of your comment.

Are you doing that because of people who may use your comments to train AI reasons?

If so, do you think legally that covers it, since it’s a link, and not just the text itself?

In other words, would an AI trainer have to drill into the link before your comment is covered by that clause?

It shouldn’t take 20 panels to tell a joke.

Seems like it’s not telling a joke, but instead making a statement about Humanity.

CosmicCleric, to starwarsmemes in It doesn't always feel good to compare yourself to your parents
@CosmicCleric@lemmy.world avatar

I was in a band called Death Star Daycare.

That’s, actually, not bad, at all.

Although I’m sure the Disney attorneys would probably have some issues with that name, potentially.

Unlike normal army units though, each state or territory has its own national guard unit under the command of the governor.

What’s the chain of command?

Does it stop at the Governor, or does it go from the Governor to the President?

Do they swear an allegiance to the state Constitution, or to the Federal Constitution?

I’m honestly surprised someone at this point hasn’t just ported over all the comments from Reddit over to Lemmy, since they’re basically public domain comments from the human species that Reddit is just storing. IANAL.

/agree. Well said.

Current trek seems to ignore the origional ‘meta’ of Star Trek, until the ratings are so bad that they overly backpedal and turn it into poor fan service. And because of that, it tells poorly written stories.
