If you had of invested the equivalent amount of money in the Dow Jones index instead of purchasing 10kg of gold and kept it invested from 1920-2024 you would have ~$15 million.

This has to be stopped. Just look at what Napster did to the music industry. That’s right, there used to be a music industry and now it’s just…gone. No more music, no more money to be made in music. Don’t let these evil streaming services do the same to poor defenceless Hollywood, bastion of women’s rights!

It was his video on IQ tests that set off alarm bells for me.

IQ tests are not some method of determining intelligence they are very much linked to relative education/socioeconomic standing. His complete lack of criticism and neutral/positive support of IQ tests make me think he likes the result of his score…

    It’s inevitable whenever there are mods. Sometimes people just clash but in my experience I always just remind myself ‘who are the types of people who would voluntarily want to be a mod?’ and then I go outside and speak with actual humans.

    I’d recommend posting a tangentially political meme at some point on Lemmy.

    The amount of people who will come out of the woodwork to tell you ‘don’t post this’ and ‘don’t make things political’ will really be eye opening.

    People don’t want to address systemic issues and think not talking about them is a viable solution.
