All these people saying “Just use LibreOffice” is missing the point: if they ask about a program, then that means they have a usecase for said program.

This isn’t StackExchange; let’s not repeat that cycle.

Wow, fucking rude. Some people mix up similar-looking characters in their heads, you dolt.

I don’t. I was making fun of this post.

It is using the age-old “girls vs boys” trope, and therefore juvenile.

Boys good! Girls yucky!

Seriously, what are you? 12?

baby power

No one can stand up to the power of babies. They shall sow chaos amongst us with their crying!

Is there any future for the GTK-based Desktop Environments? (ludditus.com)

This article was written in the sense of bashing gnome but yet some points seem to be valid. It explains the history of gtk 1 to 4 and the influence of gnome in gtk. I’m not saying gnome is bad here, instead I find this an interesting to read and I’m sharing it.

Not sure about the similarities here, but I actually love GTK when it comes to app design. It’s one of the things I miss about Linux in Windows. (Yes, I’m a Windows user—not by choice, though.) About the only thing I hate about it is that for some reason a lot of GTK app designers think a simpler design should mean less functionality. Gimme my damn right-click context menus dammit! >_<

Also, what kind of monster has desktop icons or files in 2023?

Most people.

Text does not convey tone or subtext in general well at all. Thus, never assume that sarcasm will be obvious to absolutely everybody. So, just to be safe, it’s best to just always use /s if you’re being sarcastic, at least when speaking amongst the general public.

  • Armor, provided it comes with a helmet & is bite-/scratch-resistant
  • Doggo, because sensing danger is important & loneliness would almost be a bigger killer than zombies,
  • Machete, as a tool & method of defense
  • Water purifier, provided it doesn’t require an outlet of some kind

This isn’t specific to Linux necessarily, but the best free fonts I like the most that I always install regardless of OS are:

  • DejaVu (included by default in a lot of Linux distros but not in Windows)
  • EB Garamond (a font intended to replicate Garamond but with the Open Font License)
  • Inconsolata (a font intended to replicate Consolas but with the Open Font License)
  • Noto (also included by default on a lot of Linuxes but not on Windows)
  • Vollkorn

I don’t even understand the benefit of it. It’s not like memeing is a job where you have to protect your intellectual property. Why even do it? Do they think so highly of themselves that they need to “protect” memes that they create? They’re randos on the Internet adding captions to images, not V/A professionals…

It also goes against the longstanding spirit of Internet memes, that they are things to by definition be shared, not intellectual property to be bound.

Don’t you use logic to muddle the issue! I have an opinion dammit, and I’ll be damned if I can’t make everyone else abide by it!
