The normal average temperature for a human body. Some people run slightly hotter or colder than that.

For example, my body naturally runs slightly colder than that, almost an entire degree colder, but it’s normal for my body.

“He”

Who? If you’re talking about Biden, yeah he tried but was completely blocked by Congress.

Contrary to popular belief, the office of the President (any president, not just him) is actually quite limited in its power.

House Judiciary Committee advances FISA Section 702 bill with warrant requirements, 35-2

Sen. Ron Wyden says "This is great news for anyone who cares about protecting their privacy from government overreach."

So far the only coverage is @tonya_riley's paywalled Bloomberg News article

https://news.bloomberglaw.com/ip-law/house-panel-oks-bill-to-renew-rein-in-electronic-surveillance

The bill is H.R. 6570, the Protect Liberty and End Warrantless Surveillance Act, sponsored by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ). It has a lot of similarities to the bipartisan Government Surveillance Reform Act (where Wyden and Sen. Mike Lee are the Senate sponsors). But there are other bills potentially moving forward as well.... (1/3)

I’m still waiting for the Fuckening to happen, where somebody tells me it actually does the exact opposite and just empowers more Orwellian helltactics.

I mean, considering this map excludes Antarctica, and there are people living (at least temporarily) in Antarctica, it is technically true.

I do not, but only because I use ProtonMail and don’t have premium so I don’t have IMAP/SMTP bridging.

I used it all the time back around 2011/2012 and it was pretty great, but that was admittedly a long time ago so I imagine lots have changed since them.

FUN FACT(S) :D

I did some research and this is what I found:

  • According to this StackExchange thread, the phrase “penny for your thoughts” originated no later than in England in 1562.
  • According to the Bank of England, £ 1 (pre-decimal) equates to approximately £ 386.21 in 2023 September.
  • According to XE.com, £ 1 at mid-market rates on 2023-09-30 was worth approximately $ 1.219 97.
  • So, considering there were 240 pence in a pound in 1562, that means that 1 p in 1562 would in fact be approximately equal to $ 1.96 on 2023-09-30.

Conclusion: taken literally, it would nowadays be around 196 pennies for your thought! ^_^

People also forget that most of the actual calculations were done on paper first; the computers were basically just executing precalculated instructions.

This is the stack of code used for the navigation software for the Apollo program.

(Fun fact: standing next to it is Margaret Hamilton, director of NASA’s Software Engineering Division & the lead of the team who wrote that code.)
