Lmao gnome and kde can never merge. They have entirely different design philosophy. If every open source project merged into a single project we wouldn’t have the competitive and diverse app eco system we have today.

Its good to have the community filled with active threads.

Fuck I set the bread rolls on fire in the oven. Hopefully having a fire inside the oven doesn’t damage anything. This is going tits up.

As a headline reader I’d sure hope users of these distros receive security updates

I would consider the steamdeck to be a linux desktop if someone is browsing the internet on it.

Happy New Years ya jerks

I’m drunk. My partner deleted what I originally wrote. It was about how fallible we humans are to put it nicely. Regardless of our failings which we know we have, I really wish y’all as great a 2024 as we can manage. At the very least I hope we can have a better year. I won’t be forgetting any auld acquaintances. Have a...

I pay for the subscription and if I didn’t I do not mind free services asking for money. If you are giving me a free service and not data mining me then you have every right to nag me.

Gmail litterally puts ads in your inbox that look like emails so I doubt any service is gonna be worse than that.

He seemed like a decent guy and that was enough for me to finally make the switch from Gmail to proton and buy prem.

Knows enough to be dangerous and confident enough to dive in head first. Deadly combo

I was on windows and I was forced to update and then it bricked my computer and I had to reinstall windows except when I did it asked me for a windows license key. I tried everything to recover my license key but wasn’t able to.

This was around the time linus texh tips was teasing his upcoming month on linux series so I was like fuck it I’ll give it a go. Spent a week on mint and wifi was broken then tried Endeavor, Garuda and fedora and settled on manjaro. Manjaro was amazing to me. Everything worked out of the box and kde plasma looked so clean and I could set it up exactly how I wanted.

Then I watched linus tech tips video on linux and I was like wtf how did he have such a bad experience is he dumb?

Thinkpads RE: Repairability/upgradability

I need to upgrade my laptop and one of the things I’m looking for is repairability/upgradability. I’ve been told thinkpads are good in this respect, how true is that? In terms of replacing batteries and memory, at least. I’m also looking at the frameworks, but those black friday deals are looking alright at lenovo....

Why not framework? Thinkpads were good but I doubt the new ones follow the same principles.

Id love to see food trucks that were dirt cheap and just did 1 food. Please park this grilled cheese truck outside my house

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Yeah that’s how it is here. Food trucks are only at events and event food costs a fortune for some reason. You’d think that having 1000s of hungry people in one place would allow the to drop the price a bit but nah gotta squeeze us for everything.

How has no one noticed a server first kernel being limited to 8 cores?

With every single piece of news I read I’m glad I’m not living in the uk. It seems over the last 10 years it’s been getting more and more dystopian
