Pop culture didn’t appropriate it. Alan Turing and John McCarthy and the others at the Dartmouth Comference were inspired in part by works like Wisard of Oz and Metropolis and R.U.R.

While the term was coined in a paper for that seminal conference by McCarthy…. The concept of thinking machines had already been firmly established.

Because natural foods are sweet when they’re the most nutritious.

Fruit, for example, or carrots (which convert it’s starches into sugars to avoid freezing.)

Prior to modern food preservation and heavily processed foods, getting calories was hard enough on its own, so we’re primed to seek calorie rich food.

We’ve evolved- technologically- to the point that’s no longer true, but our biology hasn’t caught up yet.

I like the one where they drop a chicken walker on him in rebels. Also the moment where Vader attacks Home one and Hera leads him into the tractor beams. The palpable “we’re dead” from the imps conveyed some of the mojo they lost in the prequels- when they turned Vader into a whiny emo crybaby

Heisenberg, Ohm and Schrodinger are in a car. They get pulled over. Heisenberg is driving, and the cop asks him, “Do you know how fast you were going?”

“No, but I know exactly where I am,” Heisenberg replies.

The cop says, “You were doing 55 in a 35.”

Heisenberg throws up his hands and shouts, “Great! Now I’m lost!”

The cop thinks this is suspicious and orders him to pop open the trunk. He checks it out and says, “Do you know you have a dead cat back here?”

“We do now, asshole!” shouts Schrodinger, getting belligerent.

The cop moves to arrest them. Ohm resists.

Pretty sure Watto had to sell her to help cover gambling debts from anakin winning. I could be wrong, but it would have been fairly simple for the Jedi to send somebody out to take care of it.
