Gooey0210, 1 year ago to privacy in What are some good real privacy podcasts/channels? Tbh, i wouldn’t recommend some of the channels above Still subscribed to techlore, but have a lot of questions about their stands on privacy etc Also, Luis Rossmann is a really really great guy, love his work, but he is a little bit boring to watch or listen to

Gooey0210, 1 year ago to privacy in Pornhub pulls out of Montana, NC as age-verification battle rages on And this one too of course What i was just trying to say was about governments trying to put restrictions in the name of kids, anti-terrorism, etc The same way they can’t “protect” people from torrenting sites, here they are trying to protect kids from nsfw Of course parents need to educate their kids themselves, tell them what good and bad, and be in contact with their kids Or at least parents can set up parent mode on kids devices, or home network dns filtering Sacrificing privacy of millions in the name of minority which will find their way anyway is ridiculous

Gooey0210, 1 year ago to privacy in Pornhub pulls out of Montana, NC as age-verification battle rages on Probably the bigger issue is the centralization of the internet If we would have some more decentralized way of consuming content, then it would be harder to censor or control it The internet nowadays is essentially just google, facebook, and pornhub So applying a rule you can just target one company which will comply anyway because this is communism

Gooey0210, 1 year ago to piracy in It seems so strange to me that we are locked in battle with providers mining our lives for whatever, and we have to work our asses off trying to stay anonymous, to the point of being denied service Sounds like a book of Victor Pelevin

Gooey0210, 1 year ago (edited 10 months ago) to selfhosted in worth selfhosting immich or similar? what about backups? If you have 1tb+ of data you can get a cheaper option just by moving to hetzner (also, even storj is cheaper than backblaze)

Gooey0210, 1 year ago to privacy in I'm looking for email providers that don't require a phone number to use with reddit If you’re paying by your bank card you basically provide them with your id, and phone number, and everything else Same with crypto if you don’t buy it the right way
