I remember in JRPG The World Ends With You, each piece of clothing has a “Bravery” rating. Higher Bravery on the clothing meant the user needed to have a higher Bravery stat to wear it. Girls naturally had mugh higher bravery, and those outfits ranged from girly to risque, but there was no actual gender restriction.
This is another occasion where I really hope the lesson isn’t “Female leads don’t sell”. Probably an obvious observation, but Captain Marvel always struck me as a boring, flawless, invincible hero without much personality.
Something I notice is how comic panels naturally developed the anime rule “Talking is a free action”. In JoJo, a character can fumble a ball, and explain to their teammate that they need to catch it before it hits the ground or the enemy will steal their souls.
In a comic, having a talk bubble during an action shot is very normal, and we don’t think about it too much; it only ends up twisting our view of time when motion is added in an anime adaptation.
The reason you haul entire shopping carts at once is because the trip to the grocery store is a big planned deal. That’s also the reason people buy bulk items and then let half of them expire.
The “ideal” for bikers and train riders would be easier, quicker trips to small stores to get ingredients for the next few days. I find I’m able to fit most of my needs into one pannier.
I’m still confused and alarmed that the only alternative brought up is communism, not socialism. So far as I know, the core difference is transfer of power - one is peaceful, one is violent.
So in communism, your home might be six feet underground because “It is necessary to achieve the revolution, comrade.” Absolutely zero chance of a leader that wants the best for their people, apparently.
In the gaming sector, nothing has adequately replicated the stylus used by the DS, 3DS, and Wii U. It was the best way to play a few signature games like Elite Beat Agents (now incarnated as Osu) and Trauma Center: Under the Knife. Touchscreens are just a bit too universal and resilient for us to go back to them.
My favorite is downvoting both sides of a political discussion when both sides have stopped citing interesting arguments/facts, and have devolved to name calling or some variant of “don’t care”.
The one thing I don’t like about digital payments is that so far, they’ve all been owned/controlled by various major card processors, like Visa. That control really gives those processors a dominant position and basically free money.
If Linux was the world’s most popular operating system, it too would have tons of vulnerabilities.
There’s two sides to that statement; one being that increased attention leads to more findings. The second being that in order to become popular, it would need a large set of simplified convenience features aimed for mass consumers; and those are often what lead to vulnerabilities. (Same story pretty much happened with Android)
There’s a lot of options out there for alternate mail apps, but what I really need is a decent calendar app. Don’t like always having to rely on web browsers for that.
I can’t describe this well, but this happens because the cat doesn’t like eating in a way that pushes its whiskers against the bowl’s sides. Those are very sensitive nerves, so pushing its head into a metal space can hurt. so it’s basically only scraping the top. The problem is alleviated by using a shallower, flatter bowl.
I remember when movies/games first started using UBS sticks to contain important plot-macguffin data, it seemed very high-tech and expensive. Of course, now high-capacity sticks are incredibly cheap so anyone can have a whole drawer of them.
