I guess whatever Kairosoft sim game I’m playing at the moment. Right now that’s Tropical Resort Story. I am entirely addicted to their formula. I love watching my little guys do things and helping them succeed.

Or maybe Shadow of the Colossus. It’s the game I know better than any other. I’ll never not be able to jump into at least normal difficulty. And I can just ride around the Forbidden Lands having thoughts and feelings for hours sometimes. The Forbidden Lands are a very placid, pensive place for me. I have known them since I was a teenager, for nearly 20 years. And occasionally I can tackle a Colossus or two.

I feel like very young people are just more likely to get scammed due to lack of life experience. There are just a bunch of new avenues for scammers to access young people. I bet it pans out that it’s not the generation, it’s the age group.

That’s silly. I’m in a really good place personally. My best friend is my assistant manager. I just signed the lease early for another year (starting in May) in my nice apartment that is just a few blocks from my dispensary. We could reasonably be a million dollar a month location by this time next year. I’ve found a Discord where I can make friends with other trans people in my area despite my powerful introversion. And just being a visible trans person in a popular business running a safe place in a conservative area is fighting the good fight! I have integrated the resistance into my life. I have the financial stability to take care of some real life shit that’s in arrears. And despite isolated examples of the opposite, the fact is that people are overall safer, healthier, and freer than they have ever been. I say that as someone who has been attacked in public for being trans. 2024 is going to be good. It’s just going to be extra good for me.

Two honestly. They’re both kinda big picture, but both are fun and easy and low stakes.

  1. Slow down, settle, nest. 2023 was a wild year filled with change. I got a job that became the focal point of my life, and then I got promoted. That job came with more friends and connections than I’ve ever had. It has been a very full, sometimes overwhelming year. 2024 is going to be my Convenience Store Woman year. I’m gonna settle into my management position, get good at it, and turn this dispensary into a beautiful weed distribution machine.
  2. I’m gonna keep trying for a second romantic partner. It’s gonna be fun because flirting is fun. And the stakes are low because I already have a fantastic, stable relationship with my wife. Failure means continuing the happy life I’m living now. I’ll just keep trying to get the attention of boys with good hair.

2024 is gonna be good, but easier than 2023 plz

I have one that I don’t think is shallow or petty. I avoid the Wondergrove cannabis company because there is a children’s show/educational program of the same name. While state regulators are making cannabis brands who have made no attempts to advertise to or appeal to children change their packaging to single color designs to reduce their appeal to children, there is a weed brand named after a kid’s show that calls its flower line “Field Trip.” I call it “Kid Weed” because it makes me think of the WKUK Kid Beer sketch. And I don’t buy it.

None. I wish I could see more content. Not enough is made of the fact that you only see content your instance is already connected to. Part of my frustration with the platform is that I joined a neutral instance to have as much content as possible, but relatively little of it is shuffled to me in the all feed. I like discovering new things online. I hate the catch 22 of federation content access, where being on a large enough instance to be certain you’re well connected means being on an instance that has blocked a lot of content to appease its larger userbase.

Conversely, I am not LGBTQ+ and I don’t need to be in their space. They get to deal with normies all the time in everyday life.

Tbh this experience explains the be nice rule. We often get to be treated badly in everyday life. Many of us experience a passive level of hostility and interrogation just out in the world living our lives. A portion of people internalize a portion of what they hear, which leads to hostility and conflict within the community. To counter the flow of outside hate into the group, many LGBTQ+ communities have that sort of blanket tone rule. When you’re sorting out that you’re a different and controversial type of person, it’s important to have a space to express yourself without intense scrutiny. You need a place where it is safe to be wrong, because you’re often declared wrong and attacked just for being there, so you can’t judge your own thoughts and feelings. It’s important that people in that position can be helped and directed without being stifled. Otherwise the true form of the self can be lost to self defense conformity.

It’s becoming more common, but I work in the cannabis industry. People don’t tend to know much about exactly what I do and how weed sales works. The education and certification side of this is actually super unique. You do have to get a basic agent ID, but it’s really more of a background check than anything. But, because the rec market is so very new here, you are basically required to have broken the law extensively to have the knowledge and experience needed to sell weed. Everyone I work with has a criminal past, even if they never got busted. I talked about buying psychedelics on the darkweb in my interview, and my HR person knew exactly what the fuck I was talking about. It’s just one of the many wonderful things about working in cannabis <3

We call ours the centaurs who live upstairs sometimes. They’re just some college girls, definitely not disabled or anything. They make just as much noise flying up and down the stairs sometimes. They’re definitely louder than anyone else who has ever lived above or below us. I think they legit do some sort of dance or exercise routine because sometimes it’s very regular, rhythmic. Idk it’s happy sounds. Happy neighbors having a good time don’t usually bother me, no matter how noisy they are. I’m sure I have a limit, but noisy walking and the occasional party isn’t gonna get me there.

Nope. I got the ADHD. I need the robot to remind me about things. It’d make some of you sick how many notifications I get. I have notifications turned on for every channel in two Discord servers. Traffic on them is usually slow to modest, but still. Lemmy is the only platform I use daily that isn’t allowed any notifications because I’ve been using forums for about twenty years and don’t often forget to check in here.

Yes, I have had great experiences with cbd, with the caveat that most commercial products have too low a dose to be effective. Cbd does not dose numerically like thc. It wants much higher doses to be effective for most users. The good news is that cbd isolate is dirt cheap, less than $1/g. Get yourself some cbd isolate and some empty capsules. Dose ~100mg and go from there.

That said, I have much better experiences with CBG for daytime anxiety. I’m a glowing, golden angel with a good dose of CBG in me. I’m also so focused and productive it’s ridiculous. Seriously consider CBG and CBN for anxiety maintenance. CBN is more sedating, better for night/bedtime, also good for panic attacks in my experience.

Truth. I don’t have to deal with this now, but give me Mariah Carey over “affordable woman who claims to sing like Mariah Carey” any day. There are so, so many bad Christmas covers it is ridiculous. I don’t like Mariah Carey more than anyone else, but she is legitimately talented and skilled. There are worse singers and musicians covering the same songs.
