LegionEris, to asklemmy in Have you read the Unabombers manifesto?

Yeah, couple times, but not for years now. Fetishizing pre-industrial times sounds nice if you aren’t one of the many people who would have died or lived with an untreated illness or condition your whole life. You should look into what they did to that man in college. Then find someone more stable making similar points and saying similar things. Industrial skepticism isn’t unique to Ted Kaczynski. The truama and subsequent mental illness that pervade his theory and philosophy is.

LegionEris, to asklemmy in Those of you with lesser-known types of jobs...what do you do?

It’s becoming more common, but I work in the cannabis industry. People don’t tend to know much about exactly what I do and how weed sales works. The education and certification side of this is actually super unique. You do have to get a basic agent ID, but it’s really more of a background check than anything. But, because the rec market is so very new here, you are basically required to have broken the law extensively to have the knowledge and experience needed to sell weed. Everyone I work with has a criminal past, even if they never got busted. I talked about buying psychedelics on the darkweb in my interview, and my HR person knew exactly what the fuck I was talking about. It’s just one of the many wonderful things about working in cannabis <3

LegionEris, to asklemmy in Lighthearted, upbeat shows for adults?

Our Flag Means Death is upbeat in the first season. The second is more dramatic, but also fucking phenomenal. A romantic adventure comedy becomes a romantic adventure dramedy.

Literally none of the things you listed here count as modifying your body? As a reply to “nobody should have to arbitrarily change their body for their employer,” “sometimes there are practical clothing and equipment requirements” is practically a non-sequitur.

LegionEris, to asklemmy in What could my upstairs neighbor possibly be doing to make this much noise?

We call ours the centaurs who live upstairs sometimes. They’re just some college girls, definitely not disabled or anything. They make just as much noise flying up and down the stairs sometimes. They’re definitely louder than anyone else who has ever lived above or below us. I think they legit do some sort of dance or exercise routine because sometimes it’s very regular, rhythmic. Idk it’s happy sounds. Happy neighbors having a good time don’t usually bother me, no matter how noisy they are. I’m sure I have a limit, but noisy walking and the occasional party isn’t gonna get me there.

You gotta do a secretory vesicle turn (looks like the open one!) where you swerve wildly off the road, circle around, blaze directly across the street at a right angle, then circle back onto the road heading the other direction. No stopping, no entering, and it’s technically not a U-turn.

LegionEris, to asklemmy in What was the cringiest moment of your life?

Can’t replay embarrassing memories from your childhood if most of your childhood is truama fog! jabs head with pointer finger with aggression

LegionEris, to memes in Can you describe Lemmy in one picture?

It’s extra impressive. It got 15 fingers right!

LegionEris, to asklemmy in Has anyone here used CBD products for anxiety? Do they actually work or is it just a placebo?

Yes, I have had great experiences with cbd, with the caveat that most commercial products have too low a dose to be effective. Cbd does not dose numerically like thc. It wants much higher doses to be effective for most users. The good news is that cbd isolate is dirt cheap, less than $1/g. Get yourself some cbd isolate and some empty capsules. Dose ~100mg and go from there.

That said, I have much better experiences with CBG for daytime anxiety. I’m a glowing, golden angel with a good dose of CBG in me. I’m also so focused and productive it’s ridiculous. Seriously consider CBG and CBN for anxiety maintenance. CBN is more sedating, better for night/bedtime, also good for panic attacks in my experience.

LegionEris, to asklemmy in What are your experiences with polyamory, first or second hand?

DO NOT ADD ANOTHER PERSON BECAUSE OF YOUR FAILING RELATIONSHIP

It’s insane to me that this apparently must be said by multiple people with massive emphasis. We only considered this because our relationship was and still is so strong. We just met really young and have a lot of love to give. I don’t want to lose my wife or have had only one great romance in my life. She didn’t want marrying a woman to mean she would never experience men again. So we share the incredible bounty of love in which we live.

PDFs are trusted and respected around the world. It’s a better denomination than most.

LegionEris, to asklemmy in What are your experiences with polyamory, first or second hand?

People already suck at handling a single relationship so statistically handling more is just significantly more difficult

I guess that’s a fair point. My wife and I were the stable thing in each other’s lives for years before this started. We have a love that can’t be stopped and have navigated more together than most couples ever will. Neither of us would have considered a second partner if we thought it could have weakened our foundational relationship. That is what has freed us to have these experiences.

LegionEris, to asklemmy in Do the right wing women in relationships with right wing guys think it's like a draco malfoy thing where they're a good guy underneath?

You ever watch The Sopranos? Carm loves that violent manchild with all her heart for a series of concerning reasons. It’s not exactly what you were asking, but I’ve been rewatching the show, and your question made me think of Carm crying about the portrait of the baby Jesus.

LegionEris, to asklemmy in what are your fun, low stakes new year resolutions?

To make some sort of major change or take a specific big picture path. The classic “stop smoking/drinking” would be high stakes resolutions.

LegionEris, to asklemmy in What are some generational differences between millennials and Gen Z ?

I keep seeing report after report that Gen Z keeps falling for internet scams at an alarmingly high rate

…which, I mean, idk, maaaybe?

I feel like very young people are just more likely to get scammed due to lack of life experience. There are just a bunch of new avenues for scammers to access young people. I bet it pans out that it’s not the generation, it’s the age group.
