M_Reimer, to asklemmy in What's the point of buying new phones every years?

The only real issue are updates. After just 3 years my previous phone didn’t get any security updates and I had to get new hardware. I actually liked my previous phone more than my current one. But it is how it is.

M_Reimer, to askelectronics in What software do you use for PCB design?

I would recomment to try Kicad for this. It is free and should do just what you want.

M_Reimer, to asklemmy in Do I need to remove metadata from pictures before uploading?

Just to be sure you should always remove information, you don’t want on the internet, by yourself.

I always have most metadata storage disabled on my smartphone. Good way to prevent leaking of a location stored in images.

M_Reimer, to askelectronics in Learning about electronics

You want to get into microcontroller programming somehow. The Raspberry Pi Pico may be a good target to start with. The documentation is well made and you have the choice to either use C++ or Python for programming.

M_Reimer, to askelectronics in Continuous operation of a general purpose relay?

The relay will cause a short voltage drop when switching. This could be a problem if your circuit can’t handle a short voltage drop.

Probably the Mean Well has adjustable output voltage. If you can trim the output voltage of the power supply to a higher voltage than your battery, then you can probably just run each power source through a diode and merge them after the diodes.

M_Reimer, to asklemmy in I'm the author of an April Fool's Internet Standard, AMA

The number one question I would ask about HTTP would be: Why was the “Referer” header initially added and why wasn’t it removed from standard to this day. In my opinion the server, I’m going to, should never know where I came from.

M_Reimer, to askelectronics in 555 based PWM Dimmer not working only with LED strips

The video does not play for me.

Did you try to dim the LED strip with your selfmade dimmer?
