Maalus,

Then be a landlord and set good prices and work on the property.

Maalus,

Except for the fact, that you do that to plenty of other disciplines of life. It is simply that some people need a computer to work, they don’t need one as a hobby. They don’t want to “learn a new thing” they want their machine to output some calculations in excel. Same as you don’t learn woodworking when ordering a table from Ikea, or learning medicine when going to a checkup.

Maalus,

The easy solution for that is a kvm switch. You have two pcs, and switch between them with a button press, keeping the same mouse, keyboard and monitor.

Best use is for personal PC and work laptop, but if you specifically want to switch between linux and windows pcs, then it should be fine if you use that.

Maalus,

A day on wikipedia doesn’t get you “installed linux and is actively using it at work” level of knowledge. For cars, the better analogy would be “I can replace the transmission in my car”. Everyone knows how “computers work”. Not a lot of people know how to install a different OS.

Maalus,

It’s funny how people don’t realize this is the actual solution and are downvoting. In reality lowering taxes for everyone achieves the exact same thing. Yet people would rather have a set of money each month given to them, despite the incredible bureaucracy that it requires, with it probably eating up 30% of the funds then.

Maalus,

Maybe… Do both? Lower the taxes and give stipends for the disabled and those who can barely hold their income? So those same people can buy things cheaper?

Maalus,

Yeah so instead of paving the road and putting out fires, let’s give everyone universal income, so that they can do both themselves.

Maalus,

I liked him. They could’ve made the “boy genius” storyline a bit better, but then the “genius” part overlaps with Data too much I guess. Also, he shouldn’t have had issues getting into the academy at all

Maalus,

Well, you generally don’t want your characters to be redundant though. A boy genius finding it hard to integrate with the crew (which was where it was heading, with the famous “shut up Wesley” being an example, or that Picard didn’t want children on the bridge) is quite close to wondorous machine that doesn’t fully understand what it means to be human finds it hard to integrate with the crew etc

Maalus,

Your point being what exactly? My landlord has spent his entire life working at a coal mine to buy a building that needed to be torn down. He then tore it down and built a modern one in its place. Since then, he is here all the time doing maintenance, packing the trash so it gets accepted, despite being over 70. But fuck him regardless according to you guys, since every landlord inherrited millions of houses, and if only you were so lucky, you would have given those houses to the poor.

Maalus, (edited )

Oh so wait, so building a house isn’t free then since nobody is giving the land and materials away. So why do you expect a landlord to let you live for free if he had to pay to buy the land and build it?

Maalus,

Yeah and I know to block you now. People like you only want to push their agenda, even when confronted by an actual example that says otherwise. Go be a hateful person somewhere else.

Maalus,

See, you can’t even believe someone telling a real story. You need to ridicule, make fun of it, because you can’t fathom that people still work / worked recently in coal mines. Newsflash, read up on European coal mines. Read up on industrialized regions - Ruhr in Germany. Silesia in Poland.

Maalus,

Emm no? It’s literally standing on all of his legs, just hiding them. Almost like doing a pushup and being on the bottom. It’s still laying / sitting, yet it puts the load on the legs.

Maalus,

False. It could be laying down on the sofa with front legs not folded, it wouldn’t count as sitting

Maalus,

According to that logic, this cat is standing on the sofa. I have seen my cat laying down with his front paws over the end, straight down, with his back legs folded. He isn’t sitting.

Maalus,

Which means that a cat “loafing” is still standing up instead of laying down

Maalus,

Maybe you could defend fair use under parody, which doesn’t mean Disney wouldn’t drag you through courts if it was high profile enough

Maalus,

Grinders work on concrete too btw. One of their main uses, aside from metalwork. The only way to lock it, would be to encase the entire thing in it (as in contacting the bottle) but I feel like that loses that charm of “a trapped bottle”.

Maalus,

Yeah, pretty much. Just use disks for concrete, not metal and it makes it all a cakewalk

Maalus,

Apparently everything. Seems like in the US, people tend to wish for a politician’s death and act as if that’s a sane and reasonable thing to do.

Maalus,

Put a deposit on the pill, if you return the contents, some other person gets a pill with your gold in it. Don’t waste, recycle

Maalus,

Afaik about the case, he is guilty and admitted it. This is also his “ritual” to destress, he has done this multiple times.
