Honestly, I’d love it if platforms gave people the option to either pay a subscription and maintain the privacy, or see ads and give up their personal data. However, it looks like we’re going in the, “pay a subscription to watch ads and have data stolen” route.
I’m quite happy waking up at 3pm and going to bed at 6am. To be honest, I think anyone waking up at or before 10am and going to bed before 12am is a weirdo who has sleep issues and I just can’t respect that. If I make too much noise when you’re trying to sleep, well, that’s just too bad innit?
Right, but they’re not going to do their job very well if they’re sleepy. Over time evolution is going to select for the nightwatchers who don’t get sleepy and overlook the shadows in the night, leading to humans who are comfortable being awake at night, and humans who are comfortable being awake during the day. The day humans get food, make clothes, etc for the night humans who make sure the farmers, gatherers, etc are safe when they’re asleep.
Edit: I wonder if there’s a correlation between being ADHD, being a night owl, and gun ownership. ADHD is speculated to be a residual evolutionary trait from when humans were hunter gatherers due to a typically heightened awareness; I wonder how often ADHD humans found themselves as the nightwatch as humans graduated to farming.
Only because rich sociopaths decided that it was better to force the serfs into working at the same times than it was to allow people to work around the clock according to their own sleep schedules. Before you try to tell me that this isn’t a rich people thing, you absolutely can’t convince that it didn’t start that way. Rich people’s money may not trickle down, but their bad opinions and beliefs sure as hell do.
Is reloading PCs really still a thing anymore? I’d been told that it stopped being necessary (unless you fucked something up) somewhere around windows 7.
Sorry if I came off as confrontational, I didn’t mean to. I believe you’re doing with good intentions, I’m just aware that some folks think that it/its is degrading or enabling transphobes.
I looked through its post history and I can’t tell if they’re being legit or trolling, though assuming it’s being legit, it seems some of its complaints have to do with xenogenders not being entirely accepted?
Xenogender is one of those things I kinda get, but also don’t. I get not identifying with humanity, but xenogenders seem like furry/therian/voidpunk/whatever with extra steps and not really the right tool, if that makes sense. Like if someone’s using them is using a screwdriver to hammer a nail because they’ve either never seen a hammer, they don’t like hammers, or there’s a social stigma around using a hammer.
In regards to Seven of Nine specifically, assuming it’s being legit (I didn’t see their original comments), it may be a case of it projecting its own wishes of being seen as a drone onto Seven of Nine.
Is this about people using it/its pronouns, or something else? I know a couple people who use it/its, it/she, it/whatever, so I’m really hoping you aren’t upset about people identifying that way.
Space Dandy. He’s a dandy guy, in space. He combs the galaxy like he combs his pompadour on the search for aliens. Planet after planet he searches, discovering bizzare new creatures, both friendly… and not. These are the spectacular adventures of Space Dandy and his brave space crew, in space.
I don’t really want to be Space Dandy, but living in Space Dandy’s universe would be awesome.
I’m referring to when they removed lesser signet of inspiration. The thing I liked about Chrono was that it was able to function as a hard support, taking care of boons and whatnot. I also really, really liked the fact that the meta builds were able to incorporate the shield and a couple wells. Like, there are too many elite specs where their “meta” builds don’t actually incorporate their elite spec weapon or abilities, only the spec’s skill tree. Finally, the spec just felt good to play because it felt very intuitive once you got the basic idea of how to maximize your boon uptime; lesser signet of inspiration meant you wanted to make sure your phantasms got boons, because when the phantasms expired, they’d give their boons back to you, which you could then give to allies using signet of inspiration.
I honestly think a better solution would have been to buff other classes that already had supporting potential than to nerf the shit out of Chrono. It just stopped feeling good to play and felt more like a rollercoaster where you spend time smacking something with a stick while you wait for everything to come off cool down, dump everything at once, and then wait a minute or two again.
Edit: I guess to use a Dota analogy, the way I saw chrono was that it was like Witch Doctor or Dazzle (hard supports, their skills are highly focused on buffing or assisting allies), but there weren’t really any other Witch Doctors or Dazzles, so it was OP in comparison. Had there been other Witch Doctors or Dazzles, it wouldn’t have seemed as OP.
Edit 2: there was also a lot of hate, toxicity and entitlement towards Mesmer players in general, which was starting to get to me. Mesmers aren’t NPCs and don’t owe you shit. I’ll drop a portal for you out of the goodness of my heart, don’t start bitching at me because I forgot or because the portal timed out and I can’t be assed redoing the jumping puzzle for you. I was on EU servers though (that’s where most of my friends were at the time), US servers might be nicer.
Man, I love guild wars 2. Too bad my characters can’t be gender goals 'cause they’re all charr, except for my meme-y salad man named “wyrd sahlud”. I just wish their balance team wasn’t so shit. I still haven’t returned after they absolutely butchered my beloved Chronomancer.
I just looked up the Ojibwa Indians and while I tend to try and be respectful of native/aboriginal religions, that, uh, that’s a pretty interesting story. Like, for those of y’all who haven’t looked it up, you should. It’s… Interesting.
It’s also fascinating to me because I’ve had a pet speculation that I like to entertain about “Xeno Christ”, which originated from my observation that the creation story in the book of Genesis is very similar to how we believe the universe came to be (scientifically speaking). It’s not a perfect 1:1, but if you use a little bit of creative license (like dinosaurs=birds, 'cause they kinda were), then it gets really close. The fact that the Ojibwa creation story seems to describe what we’d consider aliens kinda aligns with my speculation that many ancient religions were established as a message to humanity that was meant to persist as long as possible. Basically a mind virus that instructed people on how they should conduct themselves in order to be accepted by the greater galaxy/universe.
Imo, at the very least Christianity makes more sense when interpreted that way. The rules about what you can or can’t eat, what you wear, homosexuality, etc are more reasonable if you think of them not as a deity who cares about whether or not you stick your dick into another man’s butt, but instead instructions that attempt to warn humans away from behavior that’d potentially lead to parasites and STDs.
The concept of heaven and hell makes sense from the standpoint of establishing staying power as well as a way of discouraging immorality or potentially harmful behavior. It discourages certain behaviors because going to hell is a Big Deal. It also has staying power because, unlike an immediate threat, you can’t break a rule and then find out that there’s no one enforcing the rule. Additionally, by not using a karma system (what goes around comes around) but instead promising punishment after death, you solve the “billionaire problem” aka, “Zuckerberg is evil, why is he one of the richest men on the planet”. Finally, it gives a reason to continue in your beliefs and spread them as far as you can, because we as humans are (typically) empathetic and none of us want to see a favorite relative go to hell when we’re going to heaven or vice versa.
On a side note: it’s also kinda interesting that, according to the Objiwa story, one of the miigi was so spiritually powerful that they accidentally killed everyone in their presence. Kinda like how God is described in the old testament. Makes you wonder sometimes.
Tbh I don’t know if I actually believe any of it, but it’s fun to play with the idea.
Edit: damn, people here thinking humans had health classes and knowledge about microbiology 4000-something years ago. There’s the real ancient aliens shit LOL. Also, the Bible banned sodomy in general, which was defined as anything that wasn’t for the purpose of reproduction. That includes a man having anal or oral sex with his wife.
You should check my other messages in this thread. I don’t know if I really believe it like your brother, but it is interesting to interpret the Bible as if it was inspired my aliens.
There’s a streamer I sometimes watch on twitch who used to play a game and then spend some time watching analog horror that chat had recommended. He intentionally phrased his stream titles so they’d show up in twitch notifications as, “now: [game/activity] later: anal…”
I’m using my mp3 player to listen to albums. I’ve been using this site to download my music but it has no track number data. So I have to write that myslef manually. If there’s a a program that can download albums for my that’ll be great. Ideally I’d want it to do mp3’s at 320kbps....
SoulSeek. Seriously, don’t bother with anything else unless you can’t find it on SoulSeek, which is very unlikely. Seriously, I’ve found weather channel music compilations on SoulSeek. If it exists, it’s probably on there in some format.
The square root of negative 1 is “i”. The “i” referrs to an imaginary number. When you square a number (e.g. 2^2 ) the result will always be positive. This is because you are multiplying the number with itself, and a negative number multiplied by another negative number will be positive. So -2 * -2 = 4, -3 * -3 = 9, and so on.
A square root is the inverse of this. It attempts to find what the original number was that was squared, so sqrt(4) = 2, sqrt(9) = 3, and so on. However, what do you do if you have sqrt(-4)? There’s no way for a square to result in a negative number, so the result must be imaginary. So sqrt(-4) = 2i, sqrt(-9) = 3i, and so on. As such, sqrt(-1) = i.
For the next part, when you divide one number by another, it is sometimes referred to as [first number] over [second number].
Finally, 8, well, sounds like “ate”.
So sqrt(-1)/8 = i/8 = i over eight= I over ate.
(Sorry if this came off as condescending near the end, I’m trying to be thorough in case you aren’t a native English speaker)
You can get a first gen Xbox for about $50~$100, including games. Just be aware of the clock capacitor. A lot of xboxes have bad clock capacitors now (they used them instead of coin cell batteries for some reason), which can leak and damage the board. If you get an OG Xbox, make sure you A) check the serial number to figure out where the capacitor is and if the Xbox needs it because B) the last Xbox version had better capacitors that don’t fail nearly as much, but they’re required for the Xbox to start up. On older models you can just snap off the capacitor and call it a day so long as it didn’t leak and corrode the board traces.
Oh, and electron shepherd has an hdmi adapter for the Xbox. Works pretty well.
