I imagine you could do this by creating a Faraday Cage of some sort around the antenna that would phone home.
In my old car, the BMW i3, I was part of the Reddit sub there and many of us were upset because we had 3G radios in the car that were getting disconnected which meant our smart features would no longer work. But someone was able to replace the 3G modem for a 4G modem somehow. So it may be possible if you can find that component and rip it out or find a way to replace it with a defective part instead, for example.
I remember when it was just Hulu for $5 and Netflix for $8. Saved $50 a month from cable. Now it seems we spend more. I have four. Max, Peacock, Paramount and Hulu. Prime doesn’t count because it sucks balls. (Only paying Netflix when next Stranger Things and Squid Game is released). Curious to see what the average...
I was a bit like you until I canceled Prime because of the price hike. I hate to say I might go back but trying to hold out for a while out of principle.
But I have a Pihole and nothing I’ve done has blocked YouTube ads. It seems to be the case for a lot of people because YouTube hosts the videos on the same server as the ads so if you block the ads, you block the videos.
I keep checking every so often just to see if someone has a blocklist that works though.
I bought one of those earbud cleaning kits from Temu and use it every so often. It comes in a case similar to AirPods with a brush and other cleaning tools and works pretty well.
I only got it on Temu as one of my first purchases testing the site and trying dirt cheap Chinese junk. My expectations were low lol
Yours was definitely informative and I think partly because of your intentions but also because of the statement after about the danger that was there that they may not have been aware of.
The ones I’m referring to are the typical greetings where it’s just “be careful” or “drive safe”.
I know the intention is meant well but always still struck me as an odd way to greet someone.
To my knowledge, it mostly comes down to transparency. So that you know exactly who owns what in your area. The idea being that the public has a right to know how much of their region actually belongs to the citizens who actually live there.
Sadly it hasn’t done us much good because companies like Blackrock and Vanguard and people like Bill Gates are buying up all the homes and farmland and the public isn’t doing much to show their displeasure with this despite it being public information.
it’s much more difficult to find the address of acquaintances we know in daily life
Not entirely.
Ever since I bought my home a few years ago, I have been plagued by phone calls from random numbers of people who know my address, my first and last name, and my phone number, as far as I know in terms of personal information goes. The purchase price of my house is also public information which can be something I may not want everyone knowing as well.
I don’t think this should be legal. I understand somewhat why but it’s still creepy and it’s really obnoxious when the “investors” are offering me half of what I purchased. It’s just spam at this point. And I don’t think people should have this much information about me. People I have never met in my life or chosen to do business with (my mortgage company and insurance provider are entities I have chosen).
Not that I condone that notification, as I equally hate it too, but if you right-click it, you can tell Windows to never show those notifications ever again. I haven’t gotten one since doing that.
It’s still shitty, nonetheless, and I still fucking hate Windows. Only use it because I have to for work and gaming, for the most part.
Really sucks because older games will likely never get this. Looking at ones like Ghost Recon Wildlands. I do not care for the newer release but was excited to play Wildlands with my brother from my Steam Deck.
Game loaded just fine into the world and then I got kicked within a few seconds with a EAC error.
Some Windows devices do come like that! Windows Home S is a stupid fucking thing that I am sick to death of family members bringing to me.
It’s free to bring it out but you need a Windows account to download the package to remove the S from the device to make it your own.
There was also the RT version like the Surface RT. Which was actually worse because I don’t remember there ever being a way to remove the RT and go to full Windows….
I think I might cancel. I’m not watching ads and I’m not going to pay the extra $3/mo to opt out. I don’t know if I’d end up paying more than the subscription cost in shipping though…...
Ask about your goals for getting to the next level. Be prepared to be told that no positions are open or expected to open soon, which is understandable, but your question is regarding goals so you’ll be ready when that time comes.
I already know one of them is going to be certs. So ask which certs does he think are most relevant to your current position and for advancing your career with the company. Those will be what helps you most when it comes time to either getting a promotion or moving elsewhere to another job at another company, which is how most people level up in this industry, unfortunately.
Along with this, ask if they do tuition reimbursement for said certs, where the company will pay either all or some of your costs for getting certs. They honestly should and you should take advantage of it if it is offered.
Ask what areas your boss thinks you can and should improve in and ask for specifics. If he thinks you don’t close enough tickets, ask what the recommended amount should be for you to hit, for example. This will help eliminate vague answers to legitimate questions you have and also help you better realize how you can improve and do better.
You should definitely be asking or getting a raise at your annual review. The cost of living is always increasing with inflation. The below bare minimum of 3% should be standard even though it doesn’t cover increases due to inflation. But there should be a raise in wage. They raise their rates on their customers, it’s not unfair to wonder where your cut is of that raise on the customer too.
Over the course of my time with my current job wheee I have been promoted and received a 20% raise on my first year, I wrote up a letter to my boss explaining why I felt I deserved a substantial raise of 20%. The letter covered my accomplishments over the the year, boasting about my good metrics and lightly comparing myself to my colleagues (you don’t want to bag on them too much because it’s bad taste and creates a hostile work environment, it’s shitty and can hurt them, and you don’t want your boss thinking you’re a haughty person), and also doing an informal average of similar jobs in my area for the same position showing that I was being paid 20% less than the average (implying that I could take my performance with me to any of these jobs and get the raise I’m asking for; I just went on indeed and picked the jobs with wages higher than mine, added them all up and divided them by the number of wages I had picked to get the average salary).
It used to work for me for years and then it gave it up for some reason I can’t remember. Though this was under iTunes Match which is still sort of the same thing, just exclusively for uploading music but no streaming what you haven’t uploaded or purchased.
Though, it did replace some of my music for clean versions which I despise. Music I’ve had for decades and have no copies of any longer…I would be morally justified pirating the right copies, but it’s too many to go through.
What they did this last time was that they replaced more of my music with different versions. I’m talking very different versions to what my CDs had from back when these were CDs my dad let me rip when I was a teen decades ago and they replaced some of my music with versions that didn’t download correctly and couldn’t be played anymore. Almost like corrupt copies.
My offline music library was a mess. 60+ GB worth of music, most of it was inaccessible anymore and would give me strange errors like it wasn’t available in my region anymore despite it being music I uploaded. Apparently others have experienced similarly recently and the only fix was if you have a backup to restore from backup.
I bought an album off iTunes last year in September. I made the mistake of joining Apple Music and it completely fucked my offline music library. So I had to revert to a backup prior to September.
Went back to download that album and was told I couldn’t because it’s no longer available in my region.
It’s okay to buy it but you can somehow lose access to it because rights expired that had no bearing on you.
It’s fucking stupid and they wonder why people pirate when they pull shit like this.
Most people have extremely weird ideas of what’s considered piracy and what isn’t. Downloading a video game rom is piracy, but if you pay money to some Chinese retailer for an SD card containing the roms, that’s somehow not piracy. Exploiting the free trial on a streaming site by using prepaid visa cards is somehow not...
I work at an MSP, and got sexually harassed by a client recently. I just found out he got fired over it. I get to disable all of his accounts and stuff. It’s so amazing.
I used to work in that same space too and that was always something I aspired for, even if it didn’t seem feasible.
I got a bit irritated with one of the workers who was having a meeting with one of my clients. The client was an older lady in her late 50’s and she was telling us how she wanted to get actual employment outside of our program. Our program was “vocational training” and only for 2 hours each day of actual work. Her worker told her something along the lines of being “realistic”, but I couldn’t stand that.
Sure, she likely never will because of her age and her disabilities, but I’ll be damned if I don’t support her can-do attitude and make sure we give it the best shot we can. I’d rather have that spirit and encourage it than encourage someone to stay down and out and never give it a try.
I hate these requests so fucking much. I’ve learned a lot of SQL because of it but I’m sick of it. Especially sick of the users who ask for the same data over and over again.
One guy asked me to run a report every first of the month and then he wouldn’t respond when I would send it so I stopped sending it. Additionally because he would request it AGAIN later in the month after I already sent it at the beginning of the month.
Guess it’s too much to search your fucking emails before requesting a new report to be run. A report that I’ve told you countless times will slow down everything for everyone else who’s using the system.
But tHis iS uRgENt aSAp to run a report asking for all data for the last 3 years.
It’s even better when you work in a corporate environment, pay more for the Enterprise or Pro version and still get ads about TikTok and Candy Crush forced onto your users! 😁
Why yes, Microsoft, I was expecting for you to forcefully install mobile games onto our computers in our network.
That’s not the point. No business should have to create GPOs to stop this sort of shitty behavior when they buy the edition that was specifically made for enterprise use.
You’d have a point for any business that buys the Home edition and then complains about the forced ads/apps.
My brother would go out to feed a cat who had recently given birth to some kittens on the side of his work’s building. One day he went out there and the mother cat and most of the kittens were gone except one little black and white kitten. So he ended up taking that one home and we’ve kept him all this time, a little over 13 years now.
When I moved out of my parents’ house, I told my brother how I felt lonely living there and he let me take that cat with me. He’s been with me ever since, just the two of us.
