There are a significant number of people who won’t put it together, and call the bank.
The person who’s name is on the card - might not even have access to cancel the card. My mother’s identity was stolen like this - they opened many many credit cards, and she got a lot of absolute garbage in the mail for months. There was no one for her to call. She didn’t open them.
She locked her identify but it means about fuck all cause people kept opening cards anyways.
That’s crazy. That sounds like it should not be legal.
Why not just require they spend $200 to use a gift card? That way the store either keeps the $50 gift card in cash on the books, or they make $250 in sales.
I think it’s the fact that people will openly write the exact same words as you do, and they won’t be joking. It won’t be satire. And there is no way to tell the difference even if they did look at your username - it just means “Anonymous”
Edit: See Poes Law. Guess I’m not first person to think about it.
That story is so old that the fisherman can no longer survive because his fish is undervalued, the water overfished, and polluted, the beach illegal to sleep on, and his property unaffordable.
Maybe I am a gorilla but every time I buy Ryobi - it breaks before the first job is done.
I got a Ryobi pressure washer and not even 2 hours into washing - it exploded like a fuckin bomb. Home Depot gave me a refund for the pressure washer but not my pants.
I imagine the same as every single laptop in existence. A big brick that sits on the floor and a very long cord.
Why couldn’t that work?
Other tools are way more power hungry than a drill. Someone gave me a m12 Vacuum as a gift and it can’t run for more than 15 minutes on battery which makes it extremely limited. Inside a customer’s home that is all I need but at home it’d be great to run it as a dust collection for a table saw.
We had a virtual card number leaked and used. Somehow we received what was ordered. (lemmy.world)
Everything was reported and changed, fairly quickly to our luck. Another charge was denied the next day.
