You most likely don’t need on device firewall if your in your home network behind a router that has a firewall. If you‘d disable that firewall as well and one of your devices has e.g. SSH activated using username and password, than there is nothing stopping a “hacker” or “script kiddy” from penetrating/spamming your SSH port and brute force your password. The person than can take over your PC and can e.g. install software for his botnet or install keylogger or can overtake your browser session including all authentication cookies or many other bad stuff.
If you are using puplic WiFi, I’d recommend a good on device firewall, or better just use a VPN to get an encrypted tunnel to your home (where you would need to open a port for that tho) and go into the internet from there.
Thanks to nouveau, I can still use GNOME even after dropping X11 🥳 I have a GeForce 6800M GT, I think, which would need a proprietary nvidia driver that is not supported (but patched by community) since kernel 5 I believe. Only thing that needed to be considered is, that one has to boot via legacy BIOS and not EFI, even on a mac laptop which normally uses EFI to boot into macOS and the grafic card still works. Would be nice if the nouveau team would get the card running on EFI as well.
I can’t say if dislike appimage or snap more 🤔 I guess snap, because you can create a pkg that just installs an appimage as if it was a normal package 🤔
Well, for pokemon, I guess you would use yay, wouldn’t you? I mean minecraft has to be installed from AUR as well, and I have never used pacman to install from AUR, is that possible?
Archinstall python script is your friend 😄😉 I tried install arch manually, but as I learned that not even sudo is included in the Linux essential packages, I stopped the process and went back to aromatic script install, lol, got no time for that S*** 😂
Smallest 4k x265 movie i found in my Mediathek after a short search are from LAMA, they are 5 to 7 Gb I got them on a Indexer that has a really similar name than that movie with the green font and the robots that produce humans for energy while keeping them in a simulated world so that they grow right. I use usenet.
I like that initial installation is reduced to the max ant then you can add what you need rather than removing what you don’t want. I guess thats a design philosophy where the alternative KDE interface tries to put everything in on initial installation I like as well that GNOME creates rails for app developer to achieve continuity in user experience throughout all apps
