Pulptastic,

There’s this really cool shorthand where you drop the year because it seldom changes. It’s called MM-DD

Pulptastic,

You’d be surprised what I fit in my Yaris hatchback

Pulptastic,

That was a surprisingly good book. Lots of ideas for public policy and guerilla climate strategy.

Pulptastic,

That NIN shirt was enough for me to be into it

Pulptastic,

That’s the story of adaptations most of the time.

I read the book first and enjoyed the movie enough to buy it.

Pulptastic,

I wish it was that easy. Flonase did nothing for me other than cause my nose to bleed. Azelastine helped some though and that makes sense for me, my congestion is likely caused by dust mite allergy.

Affrin is amazing for what it is. A few weeks ago I had a sinus headache so bad I threw up. Affrin cleared it up in 30 seconds, and I was able to maintain it without affrin after that.

Pulptastic,

Where did you get anti dustmite sheets? I looked a few years back and all I could find were $200 medical covers that were basically plastic bags and 1000 different ones on Amazon with 1* durability reviews. I would love to have a “legit” source and maybe some info on expectations.

Pulptastic,

Same in Brazil for the 7 (but no feet on the 1). That’s where I picked up the habit.

Pulptastic,

Who said she’s a mechanical engineer?

Pulptastic,

Presumably you could meet the boundary with “a dollah fifty in late fees at the public library” and find a way to push through from there. You’d have to find a way to publish or share your new knowledge. Studying at uni gives you access to experts in their own thing that likely have knowledge that could help you with your thing as well as a system designed to churn out these papers when you eventually find your thing.

Every day people discover new things but it takes attention, effort, and will to PROVE it’s a new thing and more yet to share that with the world. Too bad you can’t get an honorary PhD for doing that, at least not reliably.

Pulptastic,

I’m a metals engineer. I design and monitor processes to make metals with the right properties for a given application. That means lots of testing to prove it was done right, and testing usually means breaking shit to make sure it has enough strength and ductility.

It has pros and cons. The money is good and demand is higher than supply so it is pretty easy to find a good job, but it is a niche field so I have to go where the work is and aw(mm usually they put these places in the middle of nowhere in shitty republican states that have great corporate tax policies. It is also pretty much exclusively on-site work which means I have very limited choices of where I live.

I am a polymath and am good at lots of mathy sciencey things, I’m hindsight I probably would have picked something that allows for remote work. TBF remote work wasn’t much of a thing in 1995 when I chose this field but I wish now that I could work remotely.

All that said it is a good time and has treated me well so far.

Pulptastic,

The left is Rotten Tomatoes which I usually my go-to. The relative % of critic and user ratings let me know what. Getting into. If both are high it’s a well made blockbuster, critic high user low is thought provoking, critic low user high is the Walmart lowest denominator slapstick, action, or romcom, and both low is trash like Freddie Got Fingered or The Room.

The other is Letterboxd, a social movie review platform, that I’ve never used but I can imagine it would make my peenus hort.

Pulptastic,

Franco was a nut. He did put out some nice android kernel mods though.

Pulptastic,

That one is on my list, haven’t seen it yet!

Pulptastic, (edited )

F has that too. Below 0, f it’s cold. Above 100, f it’s hot. 0-25 winter sports baby, 25-50 bleh it’s wet and nasty, 50-75 chefs kiss, 75-100 let’s hit the beach.

What modes of transport do you really like?

For me personally, trams are right up there. Aside from the main issue of sharing the roads instead of having a dedicated line, they really make it easy to get from one part of a city to another, especially for wheelchair users. They’re usually as frequent as buses, but much faster. The stations are much more attractive...

Pulptastic,

I’m still looking for a justification of the arr suite. It’s not hard to find files and I like being able to choose.

I also still need to figure out how to use docker to sandbox my qbit+ VPN.

Pulptastic,

Some lab equip has proprietary ports that would need reverse engineering to make and use a USB adapter.

Pulptastic,

And I was doing so well for so long. Anyways

Pulptastic,

My favorite class in grad school. Here, let’s derive the empirical laws of thermodynamics from first principles based on random movement of atoms.

Pulptastic,

I really want American cheese that is not wrapped in plastic. Kraft makes it but it costs more than double the plastic wrapped stuff. I’ve paid that price when times were plenty but they are no more.

Pulptastic,

This idea of ports and connectability is something I don’t understand. I guess I don’t know what ports really do.

As I dig into VPN setup I realize how little I understand about networking. I search for answers and find I don’t even understand the answers and have a hard time finding search terms that lead me to that basic level to build up my understanding.

  • Pulptastic,

Is docker hard to set up? I am hesitant to borrow the setup from some rando I don’t know.
