And, to be fair, successful engineers/whatever rarely want to be in management. They’ve identified they’re great at what they do and happy to continue doing it if the pay is right. A lot end up moving to management because the pay tends to be higher and then not being great and hating it.

Great managers are great at managing people and processes, not necessarily doing the processes. They understand human psychology to inspire, motivate, and bring teams together. That’s a rare find because that’s largely misunderstood, unfortunately. This is super frustrating because there are plenty of great books/seminars on how to identify and be great managers. The information is out there.

In my mind, the midwest is west of the Mississippi and through the plains. Colorado starts the traditional west with Texas being the exception.

The trick is, as soon as you can see the tip of Pikes Peak, you’re in Colorado.

Same thought. No one here thinks it’s the midwest. It’s the west and very apparent. Ghost towns start popping up for attractions, everything’s about the mountains, camping, hiking, skiing/snowboarding.

But no one in Fort Collins to Denver to CO Springs to Pueblo (almost the entire population of the state) would ever say they’re in the Midwest. Those cities basically start the West.

Mid Altlantic exists as well.

Wife and I got a Mazda CX-90 PHEV and last mileage at fill up it on a 1/4 tank it had gone 600+ miles. She goes 45 min one way once a week. If it weren’t for that she’d get well over 1000 miles on a tank as she almost always drives it in EV only around town. It goes 26 miles on the battery. 2.5kWhs (not the best) and 36mpg on gas at the moment (that can go a lot higher depending on how you drive it).

Get a hybrid or PHEV for sure. EV really depends on how far you need to drive and how much electricity costs. During peak hours (4p-8p here) our rate (33¢/kWh) for our vehicle is equivalent to gas at $3.98/gal (not cheap in the US). Off peak the rate is $11¢/kWh and is much cheaper.

Just wish the battery was larger at ~50 miles and didn’t cost so much. Other than that, it’s an incredibly fun vehicle to drive, has a great interior, and has an easy to navigate and use infotainment system.

Wait, when did they add that!? Super cool!

For anyone else who can’t find it, it’s on the main screen, scroll down to the averages looking widget, Tap.

What app is that?

Indeed, one of our regional airports has housing with taxi ways to the runway as well. Instead of garages for cars they have hangers for the planes and cars.

That was a fascinating read. Some great research has gone into it and they have some really compelling evidence. This is definitely exciting.

My kids had Snap Circuits but it’s a bit complex for a toddler. It’s probably the most basic circuit designer I can think of though. They did a great job. If an adult is helping it would be fun for both.
