QuazarOmega,

Well, if you lose the OOPism of those dots, we can talk.

That’s a good point, I didn’t even think about it, maybe a more functional style would make more sense?

QuazarOmega,

Awesome hardware, but damn, 1299€?
Guess I’ll be looking respectfully… from the sidelines (o.o )

QuazarOmega,

Agreed 100%, I wish any smartphone could support Graphene

QuazarOmega,

I am happy actually, but it is kind of bittersweet

QuazarOmega,

Heck yeah, you always learn something after all!

QuazarOmega,

There’s a fork that supports it, though it looks like it has become inactive, if you care about that github.com/erkserkserks/openboard

QuazarOmega,

Huh, how come I’ve never heard about this, but it looks so professional (?), at least for the website presentation.
Is it better than the common Kdenlive and Blender in your experience?

QuazarOmega,

Windows Terminal has profiles that you can configure a lot so you can have SSH profiles too, don’t know if that fits your use case exactly though

QuazarOmega,

You can have push notifications, right now there’s a unified push fork on the same Molly F-droid repository

Is the Linux Foundation Certified System Admin (LFCS) worth it?

I’ve been a software engineer for 10 years now but want to work with Linux more in a professional setting (not to mention the number of layoffs in the the dev industry has me thinking a backup plan might be a good idea). I have been using Linux exclusively on my personal machine for about 15 years now so I’m not too worried...

QuazarOmega, (edited )

Ah I see what you mean, that stuff is pretty annoying.
Well at least the core tech remains open, though I agree, I would like to see more agnosticism from the industry in regard to the tool implementing the containers, since they’re pretty much all interoperable to a certain extent, as I understand

QuazarOmega,

That sounds pretty awful, don’t know what to say really.
I should consider myself lucky that I touched WordPress only for a short period of time, the development experience felt really clunky to me. That also means I’m not terribly experienced, so I hope someone more knowledgeable can chime in

QuazarOmega,

No no, don’t get me wrong, it very much still is, it’s really great for what it is, but for my own purposes it’s a bit too much maybe, and I never thought to come back also because I was, and still am, anticipating federation on Gitea/Forgejo, I didn’t expect that GitLab would add that in as well, so now that’ll be a moot point when the relevant merge requests do land

QuazarOmega,

I hear this name coming back once in a while, what makes this distro unique?

QuazarOmega,

I think it’s fine if you give the option to uninstall it, many users wouldn’t know where to look to install the browser right away and they need access to the internet to find out (because they’re not familiar with the command line), they probably have a phone to look stuff up, but that’s bad user experience.
Otherwise a first run welcome screen that asks the user which browser they want to install out of a selection (including none) can be a good solution

QuazarOmega,

True, but it doesn’t work for some apps in my experience

QuazarOmega,

Maybe you can try GNOME Web if you don’t like Chromium, it should have them too, not sure how good the implementation is, though

QuazarOmega,

Awesome!

Siano benedetti!

Web devs before 1996:

QuazarOmega,

In terms of privacy, nothing would change, it’s still the same as ever so I think the recommendation can absolutely stay up, even proprietary apps are suggested on Privacy Guides.
In terms of software freedom, this is a terrible change and I really dislike projects moving to source-available models, in this case, as the other commenters said there, I don’t even think it’s legal, unless every contributor has signed a CLA in the past.
I feel for not wanting to be explioted by corporate, but they could have gone the dual licensing path and instead chose to restrict everyone’s freedom, even us users. Now that doesn’t mean forks can’t be made I believe, it’s just that anyone who does that, won’t ever be able to sell the service which could be unsustainable since they made the server CC-BY-NC-SA, that’s a big turn off for those who want to host that

QuazarOmega,

Yet another reminder that GitHub is not your friend, but also that borderline projects shouldn’t be hosted on anyone else’s server other than your own, you’ll possess all the repository data, but you’ll also be made to shut down anyway if on the clearnet, so I wonder if it’s possible to host a forge through Tor/i2p or others.

Still, this is clearly wrong on who sent the DMCA, the apps never host the content, I hope they can get back up.
