I support what the others say, it’s cool if you can pay, but it’s not a must IMO. If you’re fine with the base tier, or can’t/don’t want to pay for more, there’s no shame in that.
Shelter works fine to keep two accounts, which should be enough hopefully, otherwise you will have to use the web client.
There was an experimental app that allowed you to have a potentially unlimited number of duplicate apps (twoyi), but it’s sadly discontinued, there’s also another called MultiApp, but there’s something yiffy about it I can’t quite put into words
I tried reading through it and I don’t understand completely if they reserve the right to relicense in a way that is against the interest of contributor.
They say that the contributor retains the copyright and can do whatever they want with the code they contributed, which is good, they also say that they can sublicense your contributions, which, as far as I know, means they couldn’t make it more permissive, but only more restrictive, at least that is the case with Creative Commons

No no, don’t get me wrong, it very much still is, it’s really great for what it is, but for my own purposes it’s a bit too much maybe, and I never thought to come back also because I was, and still am, anticipating federation on Gitea/Forgejo, I didn’t expect that GitLab would add that in as well, so now that’ll be a moot point when the relevant merge requests do land
I think it’s fine if you give the option to uninstall it, many users wouldn’t know where to look to install the browser right away and they need access to the internet to find out (because they’re not familiar with the command line), they probably have a phone to look stuff up, but that’s bad user experience.
Otherwise a first run welcome screen that asks the user which browser they want to install out of a selection (including none) can be a good solution

apologies for coming back with another question so quick, but im at a loss im trying to get a plugin that lets you show live translations of what you are saying on stream. I found a few but…its not working to say the least....
I understand that, it’s definitely more of a headache than having a native package, but it is the next best thing you can do aside from waiting for the dev or someone else to package it for your distro of choice (you might be more lucky if you’re on an Arch based system, I’m sure an AUR package will be made if it hasn’t been done already).
The distrobox setup itself isn’t really that crazy either, once you have everything ready you’ll be able to run OBS as if it was installed on your host system since you can export the programs in your containers to have a desktop entry in your DE.
Now I was trying to get all that up and running, but I’m facing issues in the installation of the plugin and I don’t know what’s causing that exactly, it may be a mismatch in the distro I chose and which one the package was actually made for, I’ll report back if I find a solution, in the meantime here’s what I did:

There is none yet that I know of.
But I think something has to be said as well: the problem with copying to the T the most popular social networks is that those are designed to be deliberately predatory and addictive, many parts of their design is implemented in alternatives without even thinking what it really means for the users, because it has become second nature to us and they also feel good, but are mostly detrimental exactly for that and I’m the first to say that I keep falling for it, spending hours on end on my phone. Think infinite scrolling, instant notifications, etc.
While it’s good to have the option, if we want a healthier social media experience, it doesn’t suffice to decentralize it, we also need to think of at least better defaults, then let the users decide for themselves if they want a more addicting experience

That you get through the launcher, of course it’s not hosted on GitHub, you can download several different versions of Minecraft from it, there’s no trouble with that.
I never wondered how they get them exactly, but I think it might be a direct download from the official sources and then some patches applied after the fact to “crack” it (do note I could be totally off on this one).
You also get mod support with it, I instantly got the gamepad mod for example and it’s all been working flawlessly, though the documentation could use some work, it was quite confusing to me.
