If you can find one.

Desantis has the veneer of sanity, and actually has a clue regarding how to make things worse. He knows exactly what he’s doing. Trump just flails about and expects underlings to figure it out.

Took me a solid 25 to make it to middle class. Got one of those expensive degrees for an industry with “high average pay”, however they don’t tell you you’re working for peanuts until you make it. Of course, 9/11 and all the economic downturns/recessions didn’t help.

RememberTheApollo_, (edited ) to mildlyinteresting in We hit one third of boomers being dead in the last few days.

Yeah. We did. And we used the same argument. It’s stupid to generalize a generation. However, I can point out the mockery of “millennials” was lazy and juvenile as the prejudice was aimed at anyone younger than the speaker without care for the facts, and the antics by “millennials” that garnered derision were by far the minority. Whereas the boomers are by majority conservative and guilty of failing to understand modern living and the changing times. Because racism, conformity, and getting a good paying job out of high school were facts of life for most of them.

…and they’re still asking for tips.

RememberTheApollo_, (edited ) to memes in $45 for a cup?!

worthy of ridicule

Because limited edition cups of the brand I used to buy at the Flying J truck stop for $12.99 now costs $150, and the resale value is $200. People are buying a half dozen or more to go with whatever they’re wearing. They’re Stanley mugs for heaven’s sake.

It’s absolutely stupid, and Yeti was just overpriced trendy stuff, not the equivalent of a Beanie Baby fad as a fashion accessory.

Can’t wait until these fools are stuck with piles of worthless mugs they wasted money on. You’ll find these mugs at yard sales or Goodwill in a few years. Good for Stanley makers, though. Hope they laugh all the way to the bank over this vapid trend.

Edit: TBC I think the overpriced Yeti gear is dumb, but I never thought of it as being “gendered”. Plenty of women had Yeti gear. The levels to which this Stanley thing is being taken is ridiculous, and it seems to be predominantly a female thing as a fashion accessory. It’s not dumb because women are the ones buying it up, it’s just dumb because it’s dumb. IDC who the suckers are.

what?

You call out ageism, then mention old hippies who don’t change their beliefs?

Dude, figure out what you mean.

Yep, was thinking he checks the box next to the ® on the ballot. Older, boomer generation, into guns pushes the odds strongly in that direction.

Wow. Can’t believe the Whizzo Chocolate Company is still in business after those two inspectors showed up.

Ugh. I was so happy when jpg or gifs came Into common use. bmp and tif files took so long to load.

RememberTheApollo_, (edited ) to memes in Which pill do you choose?

I bet there’s a distinct age group for each one. Older, established, family, doing ok? Take the 10 mil. Don’t want to give up your family and all that. Might be pretty hard for people to give up. 10 mil would be an easy, instant retirement. You can enjoy your remaining years.

Sure, there are going to be some pretty unhappy outliers for whatever reasons, unable to reach a stable relationship, multiple failed relationships, poor financial situation, etc. that would hit the reset button.

Younger folks? Maybe yeah…hit that reboot. Start off with a lot of great knowledge, big nest egg to get a huge leg up on everything, you’ll retire at 40. Many more millions or even a billion with all the knowledge you have. Life would have a good shot at being great.

I’ve been to parts of Spain that have graffiti. Barcelona has plenty, Madrid is spotless - of course that depends on the part of town, too.

The point was that you can arrange pictures to look like whatever you want most of the time, not to actually criticize any one country.

One could make a similar post of a clean American city and European cities with graffiti everywhere.

Most all major cities have graffiti. I will say that I’m pretty surprised at the number of EU cities that have massive graffiti everywhere. The US has issues, but a lot of larger graffiti is limited to poorer, less-traveled or more inaccessible areas. EU? Huge graffiti right across shop fronts roll-down shutters on the Main Street. Surprising.

RememberTheApollo_, to lemmyshitpost in The four houses dads belong to.

I’ve done that on older battery packs. It’s a PITA because many packs are sealed, not screwed together, and you have to physically cut them apart to get to the batteries within for replacement. And assemble the batteries, which are often soldered in order. Then you gotta figure out how to reassemble the whole thing in a way that it won’t crack apart again. Doable, but definitely not for everyone.
