A little late to the party, but this is awesome! Bloom County was one of my favorite cartoons of all time… something about Berkeley’s sense of humor just hits me in the right spot.

Besides, who wouldn’t want an X-15 cruise basselope?

On the left we have Amber, Johnny Depp’s ex-gf, that enjoys long walks on the beach and pooping on your bed when she’s upset with you like an angry dachshund.

On the right, Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett. Not sure where to start with her except to say I wouldn’t trust her alone with your kids friends.

Yup, like be nowhere to be found until I’m almost asleep then land on my nose just as my consciousness starts to drift away, jarring me wide awake.

In our defense we were jonesing for maple syrup.

I had/have 5 cats. (All formerly strays.) This summer, 2 local strays gave birth near my house. I spent the summer trying to make friends with them and mostly succeeded with the exception of the one stray momma who will come up to the house for treats and food, but still doesn’t like me touching her. So now I guess I have 14 cats unofficially, and the resistant momma will make 15 if I emerge victorious. (Obviously I can’t take them all in to the house but I have a shed I can keep warm for them in the winter to make their lives a little easier.)

Now I’m saving extra money and me and my neighbor are chipping in together to get them all fixed. We’re probably going to have to trap “Smokey” (The one momma who still doesn’t quite trust me yet) to get her done while we try and find homes for all these adorable rodents. Not something I can really afford at the moment, but I’m still going to do as much as I can for them.

It sounds like we may have found a home or two for at least a few of them, so that’s a bonus at least.

Ya they don’t do that here. The only option is they’d come and pick them up and euthanize them. I’ve been calling around the last while trying out my options. One vet clinic around 30km away does have a “family” deal for litters which knocks a bit off the price at least, so that looks like the route we’re going to take. Otherwise it’s $120 for males, and $200 for females.

One of the giants was 7’9” tall (2.36 m) while the “shorter” one was a mere 7’4” tall (2.23 m) and according to various sources they were indeed twin brothers. They created quite an impression at the Durbar as they literally stood heads and shoulders above the rest. The brothers were known as the Two Kashmir Giants and were elite riflemen in the service of the Maharaja. rarehistoricalphotos.com/kashmir-giants/

So ya they were pretty big.

Both sides have to talk and just as importantly, be willing to listen. Otherwise you’re just spinning your wheels and getting nowhere.

I try to stay away from buying nestle stuff, but it’s nearly impossible… they have their mitts in everything, even cat food. (Purina) They have over 2000 brands ffs. www.nestle.com/brands

I guess the local authorities really like tea?

Ah that makes sense. I live in Canada, our ground is white and covered with snowdrifts that time of year.

Hell, I’ve lost my car a few times under the snow. You know you’re a true Canadian when you have shovel dents on your hood.

I guess they have their use, but I dislike green extension cords. my daughter has a few of them, and she tends to leave them laying in the grass when I go over to mow her yard.

She now has a few shorter ones.

My 48yr old unopened bottle of beer. (Circa 1975) (i.imgur.com)

I saw the String cheese post so I thought I’d share my own “slightly beyond best before date” consumable. I used to have two of them that I had found in my attic under some insulation, but the other one froze in my garage and broke open. (No, it did NOT smell pleasant. I’m pretty sure whatever vile liquid is in that...

One set of foster parents I lived with had a bar in the basement. My foster brother and I used to sneak shots of the hard stuff, then top up the levels with water to make it look like it wasn’t touched. Thankfully they didn’t really drink either so we didn’t get busted for a long time doing that.

If this one smells anything like the other one that broke, I’d be launching my cookies the second the cap came off.

If I tried, i probably wouldn’t survive long enough to tell you.

I like your math. I’m from 72, So I’ll have to agree with you there.

I’ll save it for…uh… a special occasion. Like the day I meet my maker.

Rocketpoweredgorilla,

I have a suspicion that this stuff was probably pretty bad the day it was bottled.

Rocketpoweredgorilla,
@Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca avatar

Mike (my foster dad at the time) had decided to relax one eve and have a drink when he noticed it was looking a lot lighter colored than it should as he was pouring it and commented on it. (It was probably nearly 50% water at that point, as were several other bottles.)

Of course we denied any knowledge of what could have possibly happened but he pretty much figured it out on the first sip. After his screaming rant he ended up grounding us for I think a month(?) (I was in grade 7, this was a long time ago.) not that it mattered to me… I was a bit of a dick back then and just wouldn’t come home after school anyway. I lived there for a couple more months before my foster mom had a nervous breakdown (not entirely related to that particular incident) and I was shipped to a different home outside the city.

@Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca avatar

There wasn’t anything in foster care that could surpass the reasons I was in foster care to begin with. I kind of liked it to be honest… I could swap out foster parents/group homes whenever things got rough, and I was kind of a tough kid to deal with. After 7 homes, I ended up living on my own since I was 17.

At least I won’t have to move. (I’m in Canada.)

Small issue with the map though… a lot of northern Canada is muskeg (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muskeg) and rock (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Shield) so it’s not nearly as green and fertile as the map makes it out to be.

Can’t blame you, it is absolutely beautiful there. (And the weather is milder than where I am.)
