It is crazy how in a country where everyone sues everyone all the time things like that happen. I had assumed that such a system would lead to a more robust system where every manager to ceo is vetting their business against these problems to not get sued. Apparently the liberal system of suing anyone all the time does not at all replaces a governmental body that defines strong consumer protection rights. Reading this, Turbotax and Wells Fargo News teaches me that a suing society is not cleansing itself from predatory behaviour.

Those companies are such a drag for human society because they are afraid of their bottom line. the Music Industry and Amazon also would have burned down the Library of Alexandria if they had deemed it worrisome to their profit.

Buy her a small doll brush for her hairy bodyparts. Set up a daily brushing ritual by annoucing it by ringing a bell for maximum conditioning. Buy small pearls and ornaments, that you weave into the longest of her hairs on her legs and arms. Call her your Afghan Hound. Bark when you cone home. Whenever you watch TV and a Shaving ad runs, visibly, without looking at her, slowly increase the volume and decrease it as slowly when the ad is over. Be obvious. Never talk about it. Have always a big bowl of Kiwis at the dinnertable, that you all shave in her present and be very vocal about how it is very important for you. Put hair in every second dish and make it a constant topic of discussions. Do so at every restaurant visit too. Collect every clog of hair from every drain at home and store it visibly in big masonjars on shelves above the doorframes and label them (with an electronic labelmachine) all with her name. Pay for her and your therapy two years later.

The Video-Industry behaves just like the Music-Industry. They constantly throw dirt at the wall and look for what is sticking to it. If they find something that sticks, they throw further dirt at this point until the whole blob falls down and they start over. The saw what sticks to customers when it comes to price-hikes and now throw everything after this to see how long it will stick. Vote with your wallet.

Here is another picture. you can see the church in the background. The right side is the road to the houses, and on the left is the speed-way with 2x2 lanes. It was (still) crazy back then.

EDIT: I was corrected. Its not. It is the substitute road.

Here is a recent picture looking from the other direction. Again the church now on the left. It was a crazy project but it was well received by the Altstadt/Oldtown.

In the German Wikipedia you can find another nice picture of the Rhine-Bank (Rhein-Ufer). It shows the Steps to the Rhine in 1900 - before the asphalt rolled over all that land. Notice the church and Tower in the back. And today.

What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

I am in an intense love-hate relationship with Spotify. It makes good mixes for me, I have found a lot of great bands that way. BUT IT KEEPS REGURGITATING THE SAME SONGS IN THERE. I know about Song Radios and Artist Radios, so please don’t recommend those. Smart Shuttle doesn’t cut it, either....

The most marked increase is in the overall Apple One bundle. Its lowest, or individual tier, used to cost $16.95 per month but as of now, it is $19.95 per month.

Similarly, the Family Apple One tier has risen from $22.95/month to $25.95/month. And the Premier tier is now up from $32.95 to $37.95.

The price rise for Apple One comes at the same time as increases for many of its major constituent services.

Apple TV+ was $6.99/month, now $9.99 Apple News+ was $9.99/month, now $12.99 Apple Arcade was $4.99/month, now $6.99

IOS has a 2FA feature included in the key chain (passwords) settings. No need for a third party app. If you backup passwords via icloud, you are already set.

I hate that I always compare Lemmy to Reddit, but Reddit used to have (not sure if they still do) guidelines called “Reddiquette” that included guidelines about upvoting and downvoting. I don’t remember the specifics (and sending too much of my browser traffic to Reddit makes me feel dirty) but one of the guidelines was...

The Original Saleae logic analyzer (or one of its clones -> search for “Compatible Saleae”) or a LA104 (maybe with custom firmware) or maybe a DSlogic pro or ChronoVu. You can also browse the HackADay Archive to find an analyzer that suits your needs (e.g. build your own, or based on a pico). It all depends on the resolution/speed you need and usecase.

USB isolator, $10 saleae clone and sigrok/pulseview setup is very simple and cheap (except for the isolator).

Isn’t archwiki one of the most comprehended wikis for Linux distros out there? If anything, the arch-wiki (to me) has often too many answers for the same problem than the other way around.

Sometimes, when looking at those weird solutions that people came up with in the past, i wonder what we in the present have, that people in 150 years look at with a snarky comment. I think those bulky VR Headsets, the Humane AI Pin and the Cybertruck are all good examples for this category.
