Secret300,

I finally bought an AMD card. Never going back to Nvidia

Secret300,

Depends on which one but some are easier to install coreboot on

Secret300,

I love arch but I actually haven’t used it since before they added the arch install. I can’t imagine how much easier it is cause it’s still the terminal. The “manual” install was easy as hell

Secret300,

Fedora has been what I’ve been using for years. I used arch before for about a year and I still love it but I’ve just been fuckin with fedora

Secret300,

This. I shill fedora all day but really it comes down to preference

Secret300,

Swear. I still haven’t found a decent client for matrix yet

Secret300,

I definitely do feel i3 is the easiest to understand and get into. I remember when I first started using Linux I tried awesomewm and icewm but was so confused. i3 made sense tho

Secret300,

Please let reddit die already, why he post there

Secret300,

Why does gnome software looks so much smoother of an interface back then. Now the search takes forever and the interface is buggy.

Looking to make the switch

Hi everyone, looking to make the switch from windows. I’m reasonably technically apt but not a programmer by any means. I’ve been doing some homework on which distro I would like to use and pop_os kinda feels like the right direction. I’m running an Nvidia 3060TI on a Ryzen 5600 chip set on an Asus tuf motherboard. Any...

Secret300,

Just pick one and roll with it. Eventually as you use it you might want to switch so do that if you wanna. Distro just comes down to preference so find one you like. At the end of the day they’re all Linux

Secret300,

I usually stick with Logitech cause it’s known. I never took the time to research headphones

Secret300,

I don’t have one but my cousin has one and I tried to use it back in fedora 35-36 I think. Not a good experience. Maybe it’s better now

Secret300,

I feel you. If I could I’d help with implementation but I am dumb so I have no idea what the hell they doin

Secret300,

This is why I need weaponized drones.

Secret300,

What is “end-to-end GPU Acceleration”? Like for playing back video? Or for rendering stuff like in blender

Secret300,

Alright but like, the dress actually does look nice

Secret300,

After the bug with pop_os that happened to Linus I stopped using it. I’d like reliable system and clearly the pop_os team doesn’t know how to package their software if a dependency error that bad happens

Secret300,

What article? Is it not showing cause I’m on Mobile or something?

Gentoo goes Binary (packages) (www.gentoo.org)

To speed up working with slow hardware and for overall convenience, we’re now also offering binary packages for download and direct installation! For most architectures, this is limited to the core system and weekly updates - not so for amd64 and arm64 however. There we’ve got a stunning >20 GByte of packages on our mirrors,...

Secret300,

That weirdly makes me wanna try it less. That was it’s whole thing. It’s a convenient thing tho

Secret300,

Finally a Lemmy client for Linux mobile

Gnome completely different and buggy after update (Debian)

I just ran an update, as one does with apt update and upgrade. Afterwards all my monitors, bedies that one ancient 4 by 3 monitor stopped working. That 4 by 3 displays gnome at a lower resolution then usual. So I assumed that this has something to do with the nvidia drivers (has happened many times before). So I run...

Secret300,

I had a 1650 until recently. I thought Wayland was just buggy as hell but as soon as I put in an AMD card it was smooth as butter. I know it’s not always an option but in my area cards sell locally for $80 specifically the Rx 5500 and RX 580

Secret300,

I found an Rx 5500 for $75 at a pawn shop and so far it’s performing the same but my CPU is a huge bottleneck so not sure yet til I upgrade
