Disney made a movie called Crater that was removed from their catalog after just two weeks. It is only available via piracy.

I haven't watched it because that would be illegal, but it's almost like they want us to pirate. Heck, I would never have heard about Final Space if the animator hadn't raised a stink after it got removed from the WB catalog.

In August, remote or hybrid job posts attracted more than one-half of all applications in 157 of the largest metro areas, according to LinkedIn data analyzed by Bloomberg. All the while, the number of hybrid or remote job posts has declined since 2022.

So companies that allow remote work will have the pick of the best applicants, while those without will be left with anyone who can't get a remote job. This will make in-person companies less effective and productive, especially because studies are showing remote work is more productive.

But at least their commercial property values won't go down. So that's nice.

Oddly enough, regardless of the station, it'll play me some Johnny Cash. Metal station? Johnny Cash. Punk station? Johnny Cash. Funk station? Believe it or not, Johnny Cash. I have the best Pandora in the world thanks to Johnny Cash.

When companies do good, that's a good economy. Companies do good when they make a lot of profit. Companies make a lot of profit by paying their workers way less than what they make selling the thing they make.

So when workers are ripped off more, the economy does better.

If you just accept that the book was impossible to make into a TV show it's actually pretty great. Lee Pace is astounding, the story is great, and Bear McCreary did a lot of the music. You may know Bear's beats from Battlestar Galactica.

In his book "Humankind," Rutger Bregman has a lot of examples of humans doing this sort of spontaneous selfless assistance to help someone in need. He makes the point that there's no need for organization, and people will instantly volunteer and even risk their own lives. Because of this innate feature he has a much more rosey opinion of humanity which the rest of the book reinforces.

If you want an uplifting look at humanity I highly recommend it, especially if you've read "Sapiens" because it's depressing and Yuval Noah Harari has a blurb explaining how Humankind is better.
