Seems to be a washing machine. 1600RPM spin dry.

The problem occurs because there are 2 conditions that need to be fulfilled.

  1. Its programmed to spin at set RPM for 6 mins.
  2. Before it can initiate a full speed spin it needs to ensure the drum is balanced. If its off balanced it will damage the spin motor and other parts of the machine in short order. (reference old machines that sound like an earthquake during spin cycles). It will keep attempting to adjust the clothes by start-stopping so clothes can fall in place. Only when the vibrations are down to acceptable levels will the machine initiate a full speed spin dry. Machine will stay stuck at set spin time until condition 2 is fulfilled.

The way to fix this is to open up the machine, untangle balled up clothes and allow the spin dry to resume.

Shard, to asklemmy in Does wind power cause visual pollution in your opinion?

Even if we agree that it causes visual pollution, I’d argue that visual pollution from fossil fuels is many multitudes worse. Case in point, major chinese and indian cities.

Shard, to lemmyshitpost in Alec Baldwin charged for shooting;

If they had practiced actually firearm safety on the movie set, the guns would have been blank guns incapable of firing live ammunition.

In fact they’d should have had no guns capable of firing live ammunition on set.

All they should have had were blank firing guns and disabled firearms (e.g. firing pin removed)

Its also because big ass herbivores are actually really dangerous.

Sharks don’t actually like the taste of humans because we’re a little too lean. So they won’t actively hunt you unless they’re starving. There’s only really one reason why a shark is out to get you. There’s many reasons a herbivore will mess you up.

A big herbivore will fk you up because he’s having a bad day and you got too close. Or its mating season and everyone is potential competition. Or they mistook you for a predator cause of their poor eyesight. Or a bird flew away nearby and one of them got startled and now you’re in a path of a stampede.

How long did you keep the nail on the battery for?

A 9V battery can be used as a foam cutter.

Styrofoam and most art foams melt at about 200°C

I feel like the parts separating had a lot to do with saving the phone as a whole. It must be absorbing and dissipating some of that energy from the fall rather than all that energy being directed into the phone when it stays together.

I remember my old phones would fly apart from a fall but they’d never suffer any meaningful damage.

Shard, to asklemmy in Do You Have a Fire Extinguisher in Your Home and is it Still Pressurized?

Good question.

Yes the dry powder type which is most common, can go “bad” usually from excessive moisture in the pressurization gas. This causes the powder to clump and no longer come out.

This can be prevented by inverting the extinguisher a few times a year to make sure the powder is still “fluid” and to break up any clumped up powder.

Shard, to asklemmy in What groups you are unwillingly associated with? How you handle it?

Case in point. Great video of all the work the manufacturer made to keep the gun compliant. Its quite funny when you look at it.

Shard, to lemmyshitpost in A good deal of IT work, too

Funny. In my day Wikipedia just came out and they used to give the same advice. In comparison, I would wager any random wiki article has a better chance of being more reliable and a better answer to your question than a Google summary.
