I have a book (thanks Paisley) that I’ve started to read thats about Ezri Dax and she’s growing on me.

Edit: It’s the Star Trek: Destiny Omnibus. I put my amazon wishlist on Mastodon like a moron but @StillPaisleyCat was kind enough to send it over. Seriously. Thank you.

So I’ve never seen it and just watched it. I knew a good amount of that but not all of it. However a major takeaway from this video, for me, is that a lot of the people who claim to hate NuTrek don’t seem to like Star Trek so much as Trek that was constrained by Berman. A huge amount of people complain about it being serialized and not episodic, having more conflict and darker tones, consequences, and ‘forced’ LGBTQ+ representation. I’m not saying everyone who doesn’t like NuTrek is like that but holy shit do a large number of people fit that bill…

The room is difficult to explain but it’s a science/engineering lab. As for the meme… That character is named Stamets and is gay. The first openly gay Trek character.

However I don’t know if this is supposed to be about the character or about me because I am so aggressively gay on this account. So trust me. We’re both laughing and both confused

I saw someone on Lemmy here recently say that the reason Enterprise has Faith of the Heart as a theme song is just a set up so the suddenly change to that mirror intro theme hits harder. As much as I love Faith of the Heart… yeah. I can see it.

That opening always gives me chills. Seeing ‘Starfleet’ vessels on a warpath, attacking iindiscriminately and doing bombing runs on cities… Fuck.

Fair lol I just pretend that he was misunderstood and the camera added 10lbs of sexism

That is incorrect. The entire episode was made fully canonical with a Season 2 Discovery episode. The episode opens with a flashback including various scenes from that episode. The entire episode revolves heavily around the events of that episode as well.

Man… I always forget one thing and that one thing ends up being embarrassing as hell. Yes. Chapel. Of COURSE Chapel. I’m such a fucking moron.

For real. Una, Ortegas, Uhura, La’an… All fucking incredible. Honestly even in Discovery that sort of continues. His security officer originally wasn’t La’An, it was a Barzan named Nahn. She proved her own on multiple occasions. The breathing apparatus is an obvious weakness but still manages to fucking own it.

Pike did not make any fucking missteps in choosing his crew. Well, with the exception of that idiot who took over for Spock in S2E1, got way too arrogant, and proved that blue shirts are just as susceptible to red shirts when it comes to being fuckin annihilated.

For real. Sometimes I wonder if I was around in the 60s if I’d hear more people bitch about her being a woman or her being black. It’s so fucking stupid. But way for humanity to ‘keep the tradition going’ I guess considering they’ve now moved it from cisgendered folks to transgendered folks.

woo. /s

I’m not a huge fan of retcons, at least ones that noticeably change lore, but I have no problems in retconing out some bigotry.

… I don’t know how to feel about this…

The love between Kirk and Spock is pretty palpable in that movie. Not surprised that even to a non-Trekkie that it would hit hard.

Also… yes. That Saru episode fucked me up. That whole season is a roller coaster. A lot of intensely emotional moments. They’re just gonna keep coming buddy! Feel free to message me about any of 'em if you wanna talk about it. Not like I don’t love Discovery lol
