“climate change reversal: don’t do it for the fluffy little bunnyrabbits, do it so you can continue stuffing sustainably sourced pringles into the catcher’s mitt you call a face.” -Ben Croshaw, with explicit permission to be quoted

i mean that’s more down to us being intelligent and social while also liking to eat meat, if elephants hunted they’d probably face similar moral quandries

dolphins are psychos though

honestly it’s kinda starting to seem like human history was 50% shaped by wanting to get zooted out our minds with the lads, and 50% wanting to turn the child-eating monsters in the woods into thin red paste and decorate our homes with their bones.

there’s a hypothesis that agriculture was straight up invented because we wanted more grain to make beer.

plants and bacteria would struggle without animals and fungi as well, everything depends on like literally the entire earth’s ecosystems to survive to some degree.

like fungi recycle dead things into an absurd amount of nutrients, without them trees especially would barely break down and just stick around until very very eventually they turn into coal.

that would be a sound investment and we can’t have that, the government must focus on actively detrimental infrastructure projects to put money in the pockets of rich people.

i feel like everyone like this eventually ends up realizing that prescriptivism is silly and language changing is not something that can even be slowed down, it’s like trying to stop fish from evolving

well then i assume you’re going to start speaking latin? that’s the one language we have that doesn’t change.

i mean yeah it’s annoying because you’re buying a week’s worth of stuff… when you’re shopping daily you’re buying like 3 things at once and it takes all of 10 minutes.

just make sure to read the information slip, and at least here in sweden the recommendation is to not treat headaches with pain relievers more than 9 days per month or it can just cause more headaches.

what i go with is just doing what i can to handle the headache/migraine without medicine, but feel 0 guilt about popping a pill if needed. Especially if i’m going somewhere or have something at home i want to actually enjoy i’ll not hesitate to medicate.

as someone who has only ever lived in an apartment, the idea that you’d run out of hot water is so fucking insane to me

it’s like how as kids we want to gorge on candy, then when we get to decide our own diet we do that once and from then on there is no more desire to gorge because we know it’s actually not that great.

you don’t actually want to shower for 3 hours, it just feels that way because you never get to reach the point where you naturally stop wanting to shower.

geographically.

we have the same general distribution of our populations, with like half the population living in a fraction of the area and at least like a third of the area being basically devoid of humans.

this is unlike a lot of central europe where the population is really spread out and there isn’t really a lot of empty space left, or e.g. russia which is the other extreme of everyone living in moscow and 90% of the country being devoid of humans.

@Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

was about to say, the reason bulk sellers don’t really work here is because a lot of people just shop every other day or so, if not straight up every single day.

weekly grocery shopping just sounds absurd to me, so much more effort than just popping by on the way home from work or just living close enough that you can bike there in 5 minutes.

lol yes it’s a standard form of housing, remember that 80% of people live in urban areas basically no matter which country you’re talking about. 50% of the population lives in the 3 metropolitan areas, the vast majority of the population lives south of gävle, and basically everyone in the north lives on the coast or in the few inland urban areas.

The nordics are honestly pretty similar to north america, just on a much smaller scale. no one lives in wyoming but that doesn’t mean the USA has no dense areas (NYC has a larger population than norway).

i honestly don’t get why people refuse to let their dogs be on furniture like sofas, like either stop spending so much money on furniture or start cleaning your dogs paws, depending on the reasoning behind not letting them up.

like do they not want to cuddle with their pet? why have a pet then??
