[QUESTION] What's the most interesting thing you've eaten?

When I travel, I try to taste the local cuisine and love to try things that I’ve never had before. Recently I tried haggis, which was outstanding. I’ve also had hakarl (fermented shark - not really my cup of tea, but glad I tried it) and balut (surprisingly tasty)....

That actually sounds quite tasty! One of those foods that tastes the opposite of how it looks. (Balut is very much like that)

Damn, poor bats. What did it taste like?

The rendang rice brick dish sounds amazing. I love rendang.

I’ve had baby octopus before at a Japanese restaurant. Delicious, but I feel bad about eating octopus now.

Haggis is great! I just tried it for the first time last week. So good.

Your Teflon pans will outgas and poison you and high temperatures, so it’s not only bad for the pan but just a bad idea overall to use them high heat. If that’s your typical cooking scenario, then switch to ceramic.

Yeah, this is what I meant by “not so great” for high heat applications. I use my carbon steel pan for that sort of stuff, but thought it would be nice to try ceramic if that worked well for it, too (which it sounds like it’s not the case). Thanks for the in depth reply!

I’ve got a carbon steel pan, too! It works great. The only issue is that it’s heavy (not as bad as cast iron, but certainly heavier than my teflon coated pans).

Gotcha. Thanks. I thought maybe they might be more durable, but I guess not.

Nice! Thank you! That sounds fairly durable.

Same. I suggested that to him, but nope. Phones also seem slipperier than they used to be, so I feel like the case lets you hang onto it better, keeping you from dropping it in the first place.
