I hope someday we'll find a way to pirated a car (lemmy.world)

In the end, the KIA car company made its cars into subscription models, I really hate this because in the end the car we buy with our own money doesn’t feel like it belongs to us. Should we finally buy an old school car ? so as not to be affected by this subscription models or is there a way to crack the software installed in...

Thorny_Insight,

It’s not like older vehicles came with those features enabled by default. On my 15 year old pickup you can’t have any of that even if you paid for it. I think this is not quite the same as other brands that are locking you out of features like heated seats.

Thorny_Insight,

I just keep rolling untill I fall asleep. Trying to sleep in a specific position is near impossible. Even the best one gets uncomfortable pretty quick. Only thing I try to avoid is sleeping on my right side as it seems to be the cause for my rhomboid pain

Even a million would be enough for me there. That would give me average yearly income of 70k. That would maintain my current level of living and I’d probably just keep getting wealthier still.

Thorny_Insight,

Any currency that you’ve invested a million worth of

Thorny_Insight,

My plumber salary has been more than enough for me. I hope I can maintain it as self-employed aswell.

Thorny_Insight,

Real AGI does not exist yet. AI has existed for decades.

Thorny_Insight,

Have I claimed it has changed?

Thorny_Insight, (edited )

Artificial intelligence might be really good, perhaps even superhuman at one thing, for example driving a car but that same competence doesn’t apply over variety of fields. Your self-driving car can’t help with your homework. With artificial general intelligence however, it does. Humans posses general intelligence; we can do math, speak different languages, know how to navigate social situations, know how to throw a ball, can interpret sights, sounds etc.

With a real AGI you don’t need to develop different versions of it for different purposes. It’s generally intelligent so it can do it all. This also includes writing its own code. This is where the worry about intelligence explosion origins from. Once it’s even slightly better than humans at writing its code it’ll make a more competent version of itself which will then create even more competent version and so on. It’s a chain reaction which we might not be able to stop. After all it’s by definition smarter than us and being a computer; also million times faster.

Edit: Another feature that AGI would most likely, though not neccessarily posses is consciousness. There’s a possibility that it feels like something to be generally intelligent.

What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

There are a myriad of news articles here on Lemmy that display the abhorrent influence billionaires have on our society (especially the US, where I reside). I consistently read comments where the posters appear hopeless and despondent of the situation, while others jokingly refer to the guillotine....

Thorny_Insight,

But then you’d be a billionaire aswell and would need to be excecuted for the horrible person you are.

Jokes aside there’s really some truth in this. I’m not sure if it’s the dopamine or that I just need to disctract my mind away from the things that makes me anxious but I sure as hell don’t do it because I’m horny. I don’t even remember what being horny feels like.

And no, I’m not one of those nofap/pornfree fanatics. For most people there probably is not an issue there. It’s only when you spend 6 hours several times a week doing something like this that you might start to consider this may not be good for you.

Thorny_Insight,

Depression and anxiety definitely has something to do with it in my case but what’s weird is that I don’t have any desire for sex whatsoever. It’s 100% just a habit/addiction/distraction. I hardly even get any pleasure from it and without an exception feel absolutely shit afterwards. Then I hit rock bottom and stop doing it for few weeks but as the first signs of healing start appearing meaning I can feel the tiniest amount of horniness again I then relapse and the loop starts all over again.

Been without about a week now, again, and I’m about at the point where it starts getting hard again. By it I don’t mean IT.

Thorny_Insight,

Well I’m the victim of my own behaviour and I’m definitely not blaming anyone else but myself. Also, there’s a difference between doing something in healthy amounts and being obsessed about it. I don’t know about you but personally I feel like wasting 20+ hours into porn and masturbation in a week doesn’t seem healthy. It my not be the sole cause for ones problems but it’s definitely not helping.

Thorny_Insight,

Well ofcourse it’s a combination of things but I feel like there something to the theory of how overstimulation like that drains your dopamine reserves (or something) and kind of makes you numb to more mundane positive experiences.

Thorny_Insight,

It’s reward without effort and it’s dose that makes the poison.

Is smoking weed bad? What about smoking weed all day every day?

Lemmy, is there a treasured piece of content that you stop yourself from going back to "too often" so as to not dilute it?

I do this for a few things, movies in particular. For me most recently, I’m planning on watching Bo Burnham’s Inside this weekend, for the first time since I watched it shortly post-release. I wasn’t really intending to wait checks watch nearly 3 years on that one, but I definitely felt it needed some space before a...

Thorny_Insight,

Not that I’m stopping myself from going back to it too often but for being such a popular song, Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz somehow has managed to not lose it’s magic on me. I never search for it but every organic encounter in the wild stops me on my tracks and sends chills down my spine. A true masterpiece.

Also shoutout to the Marcus Layton & Nonô cover.

Russia is sending migrants to Finland and after we closed the eastern border they started walking thru the forest and showing up on the yards of people living close to the border. These people are literally hiking thru deep snow in the freezing winter wearing sneakers.

Thorny_Insight, (edited )

Yeah mostly from middle east I believe. Finland started putting up hundreds of kilometers of border fence about a year ago as this was expected to happen. They’re trying to destabilize our political system this way. Despite what many articles say this is not about trying to stop an invasion. It’s about migrants that Russia is using as political leverage.

Finland to close entire Russian border after migrant surge

The average stock market growth of 7% a year includes both world wars

Thorny_Insight,

Another thing that’s curious about these lights which also applies to your computer/smartphone display aswell is the fact that it’s able to produce yellow color despite only having red, green and blue leds in it. If you open up a yellow picture on your monitor and look closely with a magnifying glass there’s no yellow there.

Looking for exploration game reccomendations that work on linux and work with controllers

Hi! I recently played Tokyo Ghostwire and really liked it. I did not play a lot of similar games before. So I am looking for more cool games with exploration and interesting worlds, or similar games in general, that will actually work with controllers and work on linux. Did you pirate something like this recently that you liked?...

Thorny_Insight,

I’m not exactly sure what you mean by exploration but DayZ works on Linux. It’s an open world zombie survival multiplayer game with a massive map. I have 650 hours on this game and there are still probably few towns I haven’t ever visited.

Thorny_Insight,

People jokingly call DayZ a hiking simulator because it includes so much running in the woods between towns. It truly is one of a kind of game. I haven’t ever played anything else like it. The learning curve is steep though and I recommend watching few tutorials as trying to survive as a new player will be brutal. There will be alot of starving to death and dying to infections and diseases. Best would be teaming up with a more experienced player but trying to find ones that are friendly can be tricky.

Thorny_Insight,

Aren’t most of them like that? The one I have records when the car is on and turns off when it’s not. It basically has no features at all except for the capability to record video and audio. Made by Garmin.
