If that was a peaceful protest, then would it still be grevious bodily harm if your uncle spontaneously broke because of your peaceful actions?

“didn’t thank the guards on your way out? Turn around cause you’re getting another year.”

“oh, you didn’t pay your cell rental fee? Another 7 months!”

“still alive? That’ll be another 3 weeks in solitary.”

My wife was having issues directly related to (caused by) things at work, and she called their mental health line.

The number led to an automated system that forwarded you to somewhere else, and even though it was solidly in operating times and away from meal times, it went to a messaging system

She never got a call back. Nothing was ever mentioned again.

0/10, MAGNA does not care about it’s employees or factory safety.

Over the holidays I was driving behind a line of maybe 10 cars, all clearly wanting to go over 55, but not willing to floor it to pass the person going 57 on a two lane road with occasional oncoming cars.

Being the person I am, I like to keep a healthy distance when driving like that just in case I need to hit the brakes hard.

People behind me kept getting super impatient and flashing brights, honking, eventually flooring it to go around me…

All to end up going the exact same speed they were before, but now behind 10 cars that aren’t me.

I did get that satisfying feeling of seeing someone fly by at over 100 on a highway, and then a few miles down they were pulled over, so that was fun. ACAB but so are you for reckless driving.

You’re already late for work.

Rushing won’t help that. Speeding won’t help that. Aggressively accelerating and slamming on brakes won’t help that.

By the time I’m late for work, it’s no more annoying than seeing it on any other morning where I’m still going to work, and still have to scrape at ice/frost.

Maybe it’s just not my personal compounding annoyance, because I certainly understand multiple minor annoyances piling on making you pissed.

Lpt: boil water at night before bed, so you can use it to melt the ice off the windshield. Just pop it in the freezer to keep it until morning.

To be fair, given how starfleet operates, it’s a miracle the warp cores don’t spontaneously detonate at any given moment.

Most species would build two ships if given two warp cores.

Starfleet would weld the two together and try to go twice as fast.

Laugh tracks and audiences are the worst.

If your show requires prompting on when to laugh, it’s probably not as funny as you think.

Many shows just aren’t that funny when you take out the laughing, and if you were to cut all the awkward pauses the show would be 7 minutes shorter.

Transporter_Room_3,
@Transporter_Room_3@startrek.website avatar

I still have a couple shows I enjoy despite the laugh track… Just in general I would prefer not to watch them, and I’m unlikely to give a new show half a chance if it has one.

No, I am Spartacus!

I’ve only ever heard of torvalds because of pages like this one and since I don’t watch LTT videos often, I’ve only ever heard his first name connected with the channel.

My grandmother once had my sister and I over for dinner.

She made herself a tiny portion of something and set out a handful of radishes, most of which she ate herself before offering us some.

That was the one and only time she “made” anything for us.

I was 7.

She was not a kind person, she complained about the leaves in her yard constantly to the point where the rest of the family has a running joke about the trees conspiring against her.

She died two years ago and I still miss her. For all her faults it was clear she loved all of us, any time we were on the phone with grandpa she would yell across the house who are you talking to, and when he yelled back she would come in to say hi and ask how we were doing. Never called us herself though.

Weird relationship. Not sure why I’m rambling about this. Thanks for reading if you did. Cheers

And blocking is great! I’ve blocked many spam bots, people with hateful comments, entire communities because I don’t speak their language or just don’t have interest in their content (no OFFENSE to THE PACK you guys ARE SO COOL AND BADASS but that kind of humor doesn’t appeal to me 90% of the time, no offense to sports fans but if I’m not actively playing it, I don’t want to watch it)

But if it’s a power user, it’s really hard to get away from, and you can block them and all 15 of their alts but people still talk about some of them.

So you can prevent them from contacting you, and you can prevent either of you from seeing each other’s posts and comments, but you can’t completely get away from everyone.

Upside of a small community: more interaction between the users that do comment.

Downside of a small community: if someone’s a dick, you can’t really completely get away from them.

But the question is, can you handle one dick, or do you prefer dealing with hundreds?

@Transporter_Room_3@startrek.website avatar

“well damn, guess you better get scrubbing it might take you an extra 90seconds of prep time!”

Every time.

And the only response to “then why didn’t you do it last night” is “ask me that when you have 8,000 of them to do before you leave.”

Anyone who has closed should understand. Anyone who hasn’t can fuck themselves with the dirty dish until they have, or understand the feeling.

THIS!

I always try to explain to people why I don’t like when they just call my name across a house.

If you would like something, come ask me, or shoot me a message if it’s not super important.

I’m not a dog. I’m not a servant. You will not summon me like one. You will not snap your fingers or whistle to get my attention. If you do, you get ignored.

Which items/products were you once able to get from local shops on a whim that you now more or less have to order online?

Sometimes I find myself shopping for things that I’d prefer to go out and get within the same day, but now I’d have to order and wait a few days to get…So I’m wondering what some of those things may be for you?

Transporter_Room_3,
@Transporter_Room_3@startrek.website avatar

Hobby shit.

There used to be a hobby shop in town that catered to all kinds of things, from metalworking, to mini figures, to sewing and leathercraft. Model kits, trains, science kits, and if I remember correctly they even had a small section dedicated to chemistry supplies.

That was when I was a child.

Now that I’m actually in to several of those things, it’s closed. My parents used to go for TTRPG stuff.

I’d love to not have to drive an hour and a half to pick up a leather stamp, or pop in to see if they got a new shipment of metals I need. And don’t get me started on outdoor hobbies. The best we’ve got is a few shitty national chain sporting good stores.

A blog I followed stopped posting two years ago, and their site is still up but they don’t post anything to any form of social media that I can search.

One by one, we’ll all stop posting eventually. :(

Random shuffle really wants me to listen to a specific group of songs on revanced music.

Doesnt matter if I’m listening to rock, musicals, soundtracks, or medieval versions of “pumped up kicks”, it always brings me back to a handful of pop songs after one or two songs.

I like it that way.

If I log in and see 5+ I immediately think “oh god what could I have said now…”

Sci-fi shows have moments that weirdly hit really hard.

This scene is one for me.

In Stargate Atlantis when Dr McKay loses his memory in a similar way to alzheimers, I lost my shit.

Warehouse 13 s3e11. running up that hill plays quietly in the background

Sliders has several. Eureka, Farscape, quantum leap, futurama, Battlestar Galactica, firefly, fringe, the list goes on…
