Lemmy, is there a treasured piece of content that you stop yourself from going back to "too often" so as to not dilute it?

I do this for a few things, movies in particular. For me most recently, I’m planning on watching Bo Burnham’s Inside this weekend, for the first time since I watched it shortly post-release. I wasn’t really intending to wait checks watch nearly 3 years on that one, but I definitely felt it needed some space before a...

Varyk,

I replay Morrowind maybe every few years, and I’m able to enjoy it every time I play.

As for movies, I saw barbarian in the theater and I have waited to watch it again even though I loved it, until just last month when I reunited with an old friend who loves weird horror movies, and it was so good. We actually watched terrifier also, and I hadn’t seen that in a couple years. It was so much fun to watch those movies sort of fresh with someone I knew would enjoy them, there were parts in both movies that surprised me again.

Varyk,

Aaaaaaa hahahaha fuck you, yes, I love this

Varyk,

Don’t cut off “I am extremely smart”, that’s definitely the best part

Varyk,

What’s an example of a universal playlist?

Varyk,

With a bidet, there’s a few seconds of burning if you really went crazy with spice, then you wash off and everything is back to normal vs. using toilet paper and suffering the burn and irritated skin for hours.

That is an escape.

As soon as I used my first bidet. I realized I had escaped the filthy cycle of toilet paper redistribution.

Varyk,

Ditto, I don’t want to touch none of that mess down there.

All I can think when I visit a country that doesn’t use bidets regularly is that all these people using their hands for everything were very recently groping around near the wrong end of themselves.

Varyk,

Bidets, folks, get a bidet, handheld bidet, no more ring of fire

Varyk,

Anemoia - nostalgia for a life you never lived.

Apparently made up for the experience you’re describing.

Does taking my glasses off to 'let my eyes rest' actually have any meaningful effect? Or am I just making my eyes work harder?

Started wearing glasses full-time a few months ago and I usually take them off during my lunch break because, well I’m mainly looking at my sandwich and I’ve been told it’s good to let your eyes ‘relax’ as such....

Varyk,

I only use my glasses to let my eyes rest, so I think it’s the opposite.

Anecdotally.

1440 is a great daily newsletter with least-biased articles about American and world news.

I’ve been using it a couple years now, it’s my favorite news aggregator.

It’s just one daily email with the most significant news of that day, at least one source per story and often multiple sources for the larger stories.

The only ads are text, you can scroll right past them, and they include two or three fluff pieces at the end. Like a cat on a hamster wheel or something so you can get your inane meme fix as well.

Traffic Engineering: a help from Italy

Good morning, I write from Italy and here, where I live, but it is not only here the problem, are launched public roads projects that are breathtakingly bad and obsolete. I am no expert, I just think to have a minimum of good sense to understand that projects that are raping the countryside to build streets and welcome the...

Highways notoriously create more traffic , every time we expand a highway or create a new highway, traffic gets worse.

If you just search “highway creates worse traffic” or something similar, there are many, many videos that will give you very good information and statistics about how building roads does not help convenience traffic or a sense of narrow or broad community in most situations, and new roads or new highway lanes almost always create more traffic in urban situations like cities.

Varyk,

I don’t know about its origin, but as far as I understand people using the phrase, I think they just mean the potential for someone to do good regardless of the circumstances or consequences.

Faith in the character of every human to do good and achieve things.

Not metaphysical.

If you don’t have faith in humanity, it means you are cynical and you expect humans to take advantage of situations and act selfishly.

How to pull rocks out of pipe in the ground?

My mom has a hole in the ground that she puts her clothes drying hanger in. Like this. The hole in the ground is a 2" or so pipe, set in concrete. The pipe has filled with gravel. Anyone have a tip on getting the rocks out? I can only get so many out using my fingers and then trying to use a set of chopsticks.

Varyk,

Long spoons. Or a backscratcher would work.

Varyk,

Ha, I was going to say jerboa is my favorite so far.

I’m having a different experience, haven’t had any bugs and the updates seem to add features/stability without introducing any bugs on my device, I’m also on Android.

What kind of things are making it unusable for you?

Varyk,

I don’t know anything about surfan Stevens, why him?

Fan theories about racist caricatures in phantom menace do not hold water

I’m listening to blank check and they are harping on the racist aspects of the voice acting of nute gunray, watto and jarjar, but I unknowingly happened upon a long interview with the voice actor for jar jar a couple years ago, including the lead up to him getting the part and the character and voice development, and now it...

Varyk,

You are frequenting an incredibly select number of communities.

Also, discussions tend to be more respectful here than on low bars like reddit, so crutches like swearing don’t come into play as much.

In my case, my f****** speech to text won’t f****** write out the c*** d*** c*** swear words, which I think is hilarious.
