Having sniffed around the Linux community for years, I feel like whatever flaws SystemD has as a computer program are of tertiary importance when faced with the thing that really matters:

  • The developer of SystemD was mildly rude to some community members that one time. That means he is two hitlers and a stalin wearing a trenchcoat and everything he makes must be utter garbage.

Okay so 18 pounds of cocaine, 12 pounds of crack, and 7 male strippers. But make sure none of them are white, I can’t see the cocaine on them if they are.

Ok but now I am curious what the difference between 32 and 64 bit liberals would be

My computer was trash. I migrated out of necessity. It took 40 minutes to boot into Windows XP. Old-timey Lubuntu kept that computer alive for another 5 years.

When I got a real computer, I found that using Windows was unpleasant – So when Proton started to mature, I switched back to Linux (cuz hey, vidya gaems).

… Then I became an adult and the political radicalisation began.

I’m not “obssessed” so much as I am politically motivated, so I guess I’m an evangelist in a way. If there were ten other mature open source operating systems I’d shill all of them. As it is there’s Linux and BSD. So those are the ones I shill.

Generally I’ll pester anyone willing to listen to get as far from Big Tech’s walled gardens as their life necessities allow them.

I’m not a tech person, I think most Linux people are? Instead I’m just someone who studied basic sociology and history, and can see the kind of power that walled-garden tech can (and HAS, in recent times) give to very few people.

I’m so traumatized by how tech everything goes, that I read “Firefox is going to try (…)” and immediately braced for some dystopian bullshit.

Then saw “Wayland” and relaxed. I have no hot takes about Wayland lmao.

It’s true, the past sucked even more than now, and now sucks too, but their clothes were prettier–

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

I don’t think that was the point of the post.

It was more “Never fall for a ‘things were good back then’ narrative because actually shit sucked even more in the past”

For some reason I won’t even pretend to comprehend, it remains the industry default in Brazil. Might be in a couple other countries too. Adobe Illustrator is the “other one”, if you follow.

Ah, that was never my problem with glasses.

The problem is that I am a very sweaty, oily person by nature.

The interaction between this and the glasses is that the oils get into those little nose pad thingies and eventually into my eyes, causing immense eye irritation. The only way to avoid it is to take a break every hour to wash face and glasses lest my eyes turn read and teary.

Generally annoying, doubly so given how ADHD I am and my tendency to either hyperfocus and forget about it entirely until I straight up can’t see, or to move off a task only to find myself unable to start it again.

And right now I can afford to only wear my glasses if I’m like. Doing a lot of reading with really tiny text or if I’m driving (which I rarely do because I’m fortunate enough to work from home and live at a place where most services are accessible by foot) – But my eyesight has a tendency to worsen as I age, and I have no idea how I’ll cope once it gets so bad I need them all the time.

Well I’ll be thrice-damned.

Worth a try I guess.

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

I won’t disagree – Glasses look nice on my face. But see my other reply.

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

I am comfortably millenial.

I still do this.

Glasses are a pain in the arse, man.

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

That’s literally just correct. Are you sure you don’t know your Linux lore?

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

The community told me that using Arch would turn me into a cute femboy. It’s been a decade and I’m still as large and hairy as I was back then.

My question is who should I sue for this false advertisement?

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

Was the latter, used Linux because my computer sucked. So it was for some four years.

Once I got a real computer… Going back to Windows hurt. But I stuck to it because gaming.

As soon as Proton/DXVK started maturing, I knew I’d go full Linux forever.

EDIT: Also, MAN, a lot of straight up bootlicking in this thread. What the fuck kind of pirates are you? lmao

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

No! There are only people so obese they cannot physically move themselves and people who look like perfect hollywood starts without a single fat cell in their bodies! Anyone who tells you there is such thing as a wide spectrum of life is lying to you! The internet told me so!

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

Unicorns aren’t real. Only weird gay ppl who pretend to be unicorns on the Internet.

Is there a "guide to the Pokémon Anime"?

Specifically - A list of episodes that actually matter, because there are over one thousand episodes in the Pokémon Anime, and most of those are a fat load of nothing. – I’ve been wanting to watch the Anime (like, beyond the first two seasons I’m nostalgic for), but I don’t wanna slog through 740 episodes of nothing for...

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

No no, that sounds about right.

As a big fan of Digimon, the competitor that never was? The best seasons of the Anime happened when Bandai realised that Digimon as a games franchise was not a fetch that was going to happen and just let the writers do whatever. Whenever Digimon got a bit of attention on its game/toy related properties, the executives would come back to fuck with the stories and the anime would get worse.

VinesNFluff,
@VinesNFluff@pawb.social avatar

Oh that’s pretty much what I wanted.

Plus, the up-to-dateness doesn’t really matter to me, I just want to finish Ash’s journey(s) for nostalgia’s sake, now that I know that he finally actually won a pokémon league tournament some years back.
