Xavienth,

Or as somebody pointed out you can invest in an index fund and get higher returns

Xavienth,

So what you’re saying is I should invest in gold because it increases in price at the same rate as housing?

So I never actually make any progress? And then in the end I just have a bunch of gold? Why wouldn’t I just buy the house then?

Xavienth, (edited )

Could shove it in a folder and then make the tap action open the first item in the folder, then set the folder icon to whatever your want. Disadvantage is that if it’s already in a folder you can’t do that because it would require nested folders

Xavienth,

For me it’s a matter of practicality. I wouldn’t pay if I didn’t feel I had to. It’s easy to block ads on PC, sure. Other devices, less so. I could get a Pihole or similar but then iirc you have to basically be playing cat and mouse with Google ad domains and that just sounds like a headache.

Xavienth,

Europeans talk a lot of smack for a continent that is rapidly approaching fascism at more or less the same rate as America, if a little slightly behind. Maybe y’all could fix it if you got over yourselves.

P.S. I’m not American.

Xavienth,

Such an inefficient use of space. We should make parking garages for them! /j

I'm looking for a privacy respecting vacuum robot

I’m looking for a vacuum robot preferably under 500€ and with a cleaning station. My main concern is that most robot vacuum providers seem to need to be connected to the internet. Are there any providers that either don’t need that, where I can block the internet connection or any other way not getting a spy in my home?...

Xavienth,

Isn’t the whole idea that they’re using the internet to relay information about the layout of your home

Xavienth,

Infrastructure change at the scale you’re speaking about is not unheard of. The Netherlands did it twice. First because Europe got the shit bombed out of it and building car centric cities was trendy, then second because they realized what a shit idea that was and reversed it.

Sure, the Netherlands was never sparse in the first place, but nobody’s asking for trains to farmer John’s house in Nebraska. If the Netherlands can rework their cities to at least chillax on cars, so can American cities.

I know using the Netherlands as an example is trite, but urban planners literally know the solutions.

Xavienth,

Half the population of Germany makes it into the global 1%? So 40 million Germans are in the 1%, a group that is 80 million people in the world?

People severely estimate how many Westerners there are. The US alone is like 4 or 5% of the world population. If you’re in the west, you’re in the top 15% of the world, but not likely the top 1%

Previously: swipe to show servers and DMs, tap on DM with notification.

Now: swipe to show servers in addition to DMs tab button, tap DMs tab, tap DM with notification.

Xavienth,

There’s the “mil” which is just a thousandth of an inch, also called “thou”. Not really that rare, however sufficiently precise measurement equipment probably was rare when the gauge standards were conceived

The public: “Wow this is… bad”

Zionists: “Try again, anti-Semite. Learn the history”

The public: “Oh… OH… oh my god it gets so much worse…”

Zionists: “Wait-”

Xavienth,

“Sorry no, i don’t want to scratch up the bed”

Xavienth,

“Oh but 100 Fahrenheit means 100/100 on the hot scale, it just makes intuitive sense!”

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?? Fahrenheit lovers literally don’t know how ridiculous they sound

Xavienth, (edited )

My point is “really hot” and “really cold” are not useful reference points to ascribe to, no matter what numbers you’re using. If i was coming up with a measurement system for brightness and i said 1000 was “really bright” would you be able to tell me anything about 500? No because you literally have no reference frame for what i mean by “really bright”. It’s the same thing when Americans describe Fahrenheit to the rest of the world. You have to experience the data points, and at that point, whether you use 0 to 100, -20 to 40, or 250 to 310, it doesn’t matter. You will just intuitively understand the scale and so there’s no inherent benefit.

Xavienth,

It’s Australia. They mean shoot pictures

Xavienth,

I don’t feel like grabbing the source right now but EVs give off higher amounts of tire dust due to their heavier weight.
