This is becoming a fucking pain in the ass, and it’s going to be the final and only reason I end up moving away from it. WTF, makes me feel like I’m back to using Windows. How the hell can I avoid Nobara tampering the firefox welcome page every week?...
Nobara (wayland/gnome) + NVIDIA 2080ti, screen and projector dual setup = never add any issues. I’m a noob, came to linux 6 months ago. I’m really curious about why so many people are having problems with Wayland and NVIDIA but my system basically worked out of the box. I guess I was lucky?
hi, I’ve been pretty happy with macOS recently on my m1 MacBook, really only because I’ve been paying for software from awesome devs who make great apps (plenty are open source, so most I use are not paid) and I’ve found my productivity increase like a lot....
I’ve installed Asahi Fedora remix on my 2021 M1 last week. Most things works fine now: speakers, HDMi (no video output with usbc yet), wifi, bluetooth, etc. It comes with KDE, it’s great but requires a lot of tweaks compare to Gnome imo. Overall it’s really stable, install was easy, and switching from MacOs to Linux is a little long but works fine. For me, the only issue so far is that it cant fully use the power of the GPU. I got a 32 core GPU so video editing is crazy fast on macOS. I know they are working on updating the driver. If I could get like 80% of the power I get on macOs, I probably would be using Linux 95% of the time.
Of course I haven’t tested everything. But I’ve tested over 25 games and havent add issues. I do some serious audio editing (Reaper + tons of VST), video editing (Davinci Studio) and even tried some game engine stuff on linux (Unreal , Godot). Pretty much everything worked out of the box on Nobara. It’s optmize for games and AV. Honestly, even a year ago, I had no idea Linux was so good. I use (and teach) macOS for work, and was using Windows for gaming, but now I can do 90% of my things on Linux.
Not sur if you’re joking but anyway take it easy bud. Things get better over time, dont let bad things and people get the best of you, they are not worth it.
Mine is Strawberry since it has a ton of options and plays a ton of formats. It’s also (distant) fork of Amarok 1.4 and integrates well with KDE Plasma. I’m curious what other people are using these days. What’s your favorite player?
Tidal’s algorythm is excellent for suggestions and the radio feature works well. I wasn’t sure at first but after a few months of listening to my stuff, Tidal strated to get really good at suggestions. My only issue left is how picky the search engine is Any spelling mistake will get you no results, but I can live with that. I work in studio environnement so getting access to uncompressed master files is huge for me.
Yeah MQA felt indeed bit of a weird for a lossy codec. FLAC is a real lossless format that’s been around for a long time, I’m glad they now use it. I like the fact that Tidal can be set to different quality on wi-fi vs phone data. Anyway, Tidal is still a buisness with only profit as a goal, but they give 3 times more to artists. Best way to support artist will always be by going to shows and buying albums and merchs, but most people wants a streaming sevice so IMO Tidal is the best right now. One day maybe Funkwhale or another decentralized option will offer a real revenu model for artists.
I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that spotify sucks, they hate artists but love Joe Rogan. If you can’t buy albums via bandcamp, Tidal offers quality and royalties far superior to Spottily. You can transfer your playlist in a few clicks and the price is almost identical (6 accounts for like $15/m).
Announced in early August and initially planned for the end of the month, the Fedora Asahi Remix distribution is finally here for those who want to install the Fedora Linux operating system on their Apple Silicon Macs....
This is great!! I use macOS for work but I’m sure I can get 90% of the work done on Linux now! Just wondering about GPU perfomance? Video editing is crazy fast on macOS, anyone tried on Asahi?
IDK , Nobara is really stable. The main difference for me was that it comes with all the AV codecs you could need, and a few tweaks for gaming. Saved me a lot of time in the end.
How to get Nobara to STOP overriding my Firefox homepage??

I’m wondering what the current favorite distros are besides the most popular ones like Arch, Debian and Fedora.
