Yes, in 1989.

East Perth to Midland train yards on the footplate of the Flying Scotsman.

The fireman was shovelling coal into the firebox, and it was one of the most concentrated sources of heat I have seen in my life.

Go / Wéiqí / Baduk is like the ocean, simple to understand near the shore, but unknowable and somewhat scary in it’s greatest depths.

Games on a 9x9 board are faster and may help during early learning.

Tsumego are small contained Go puzzles, where there is one ideal solution to be found. (Gobandroid or similar)

There is a massive amount of knowledge at this website:

It is a humbling game. I know nothing about Go.

Whack your porcupine!

Buying a copy of this in '86 was the pre-Internet way of getting memes.

Flash Gordon universe.

Particularly from the 1980 space-opera of the same name Flash Gordon. This is a fun movie.

I did not know it was safe to freeze after the sous vide water-bath.

Thanks for that!

That a vomitorium is a room where Romans would go to vomit up their food and drink so they could gorge themselves some more.

Not saying that this act never occurred, mind you.

A vomitorium is a architectural feature that allows large numbers of people to disperse from a tunnel under the seats of a stadium.

The Ether/Aether

That there is an invisible structure all around us that allows gravity, light and electricity to move through it. Now debunked or replaced.

Trepanning to release evil spirits.

Drill a hole in your head as a cureall for any mental behaviour abnormalities. Still practised as an emergency surgery, only to release life-threatening blood and pressure buildup inside the cranial cavity.

Blowing smoke up your ass

Gut pain? Almost drowned? Time to blow some tobacco smoke up your bum. Discontinued.

[DISCUSSION] Anchovies? How do you use them?

I’m Korean and grew up eating anchovies in a variety of Korean dishes. Usually tiny ones that are stir fried with seasonings, or dried and salted ones. I use fish sauce, made from anchovies, pretty often in dishes, but I’ve never really tried making anything with the bigger, sardine style ones. I’ve been meaning to put...

Dried anchovies(Ikan Bilis) and peanuts makes a tasty Indonesian combo. It is an essential part of Nasi Lemak.

Regular analogue silver/black self-winder 99% of the time.

Also, an offline smart-watch with gadgetbridge to record bike riding and badminton(heart rate, steps, GPS, duration, date, etc)

The simple smartwatch I have is older but does the job OK. Amazfit Bip. No need to pair it with a website to enable, just record sport and lift data off to gadgetbridge app.

Yes, Shattered Pixel Dungeon is chill.

Once you learn to surprise attack from behind doors and kite the mobs, it is pretty much on rails.

Calm and Zen.

Gloves/mittens barrier.

Even thin cotton gloves will stop you from being able to use your nails to pick.

(But the real answer is speaking to a psychologist, and working through their best practice that has worked with countless others : )

A friend gave me the board game last week, randomly without knowing if I like the movie.

Of course I am eagerly anticipating the first playthrough.
