All of them are a masterclass in narration.

That a vomitorium is a room where Romans would go to vomit up their food and drink so they could gorge themselves some more.

A vomitorium is a architectural feature that allows large numbers of people to disperse from a tunnel under the seats of a stadium.

The Ether/Aether

That there is an invisible structure all around us that allows gravity, light and electricity to move through it. Now debunked or replaced.

Trepanning to release evil spirits.

Drill a hole in your head as a cureall for any mental behaviour abnormalities. Still practised as an emergency surgery, only to release life-threatening blood and pressure buildup inside the cranial cavity.

Blowing smoke up your ass

Gut pain? Almost drowned? Time to blow some tobacco smoke up your bum. Discontinued.

Go / Wéiqí / Baduk is like the ocean, simple to understand near the shore, but unknowable and somewhat scary in it’s greatest depths.

Games on a 9x9 board are faster and may help during early learning.

Tsumego are small contained Go puzzles, where there is one ideal solution to be found. (Gobandroid or similar)

Particularly from the 1980 space-opera of the same name Flash Gordon. This is a fun movie.

East Perth to Midland train yards on the footplate of the Flying Scotsman.

The fireman was shovelling coal into the firebox, and it was one of the most concentrated sources of heat I have seen in my life.
