afraid_of_zombies,

A skyscraper and a toolshed are both buildings technically speaking. So in that sense you are correct, only technically correct.

afraid_of_zombies,

How dare people and companies make plants that help people eat. Most disgusting thing ever.

afraid_of_zombies,

Because they did cook well at one point. It took hours, it involved a lot of cleanup, and 4 year old you whined and complained for some chicken nuggets and the fucking candy bar your aunt gave you without talking to your parents first.

So they gave up. The tantrums, the rejection, the effort. None of it was worth it. Like pretty much every skill in life it atrophied.

afraid_of_zombies,

Indefinitely. What remains of my government will be drafting me into some forced labor group all us sparkies will be ordered to report.

afraid_of_zombies,

I don’t know how well I would do even if I escaped to my inlaws farm. It is pretty low tech but they are depending on city water which involves pumps and a moped to even get to the farm from their house still requires a battery.

afraid_of_zombies,

No question when it comes to factory production. Design it right and maintain it that system will be producing widgets long after you and your children have died of old age. I have worked on retrofits and repairs of machines from pre-ww2. Have coworkers who have worked on machines from the 19th century.

You can’t compare one of those beasts to something for the home hobbyists.

afraid_of_zombies,

There is a difference between free will and agency. I don’t think humans have free will, that requires the supernatural to be a thing and I don’t see evidence of that. Agency clearly does exist or else you would have to maintain that a billionaire and a slave have as much control over their life. Your friend is confusing the two.

afraid_of_zombies,

The person making the claim has to advance the evidence. The default is the assumption that the way the universe presents itself is the way it is. If you want me to consider this possibility find supporting evidence for it.

Also we have evidence against that model.

afraid_of_zombies,

There are layers to the universe. While you can’t predict everything you don’t usually need to. The object is dropped and therefore it falls. If you zoomed in deep enough you would see the chaos that is going on in the subatomic but the object still falls all the same.

Not being able to predict everything does not mean we can predict nothing.

afraid_of_zombies,

Incorrect. You can easily be deceived. The primary is physical reality that is the only thing that remains regardless of what you think. I have more evidence that the real world exists than I do that you are a thinking mind.

Descartes ruined philosophy. Reality exists everything else we should question.

afraid_of_zombies,

would you be any less you?

The endocrine system. What do you think cause you to get horny, to get excited, to be afraid, to know to seek out sleep?

I have more evidence that I am a thinking mind than that I do that the real world exists. There’s no point arguing this point it won’t go anywhere.

You have very little evidence for that. You have as much as you want that the real world exists.

afraid_of_zombies,

I have been using it in all sorts of places. The past month:

My kids have a math test coming up. Hey AI generate a list of math problems for the common core unit x for grade level y.

I need some text translated better than Google translate does.

A customer spec is calling for a part that has this old timey word describing it that regular searching online failed at finding.

Here is a document, summarize it please.

I need a recipe to make x.

Hey, this PLC programming software has a option greyed out that I need. Any idea why?

I am high as a kite recommended me a TV show.

This bottle of wine was pretty good. Given that I liked it can you list five others that I might like?

So far my favorite thing I have done with it was produce actual statistical data to argue a point I was making about a book of the Bible.

afraid_of_zombies,

Don’t get it either. It is such a flawed product.

A. Crime movies are supposed to have everyone die at the end. The godfather dies a successful old man playing with his grandchild.

B. Holy shit is it long

C. It feels like it demands to be appreciated. Every scene we are being told that we have to appreciate every scene.

afraid_of_zombies,

Most people don’t retain friends as they move from one stage of life to another. So no.

afraid_of_zombies,

I have heard people talk like that in NYC.

afraid_of_zombies,

I remember once being just out of walking distance of a place I wanted to go to, the mass transit “distance” being well over an hour, and the taxi “distance” being about ten minutes.

Something is far when it takes me a while with loads of effort to get to it. Something is close when I can get to it quickly and easily. Western PA is further from me than London is. One involves a single flight and one train, the other involves a 10 hour drive with traffic, PA drivers, and PA roads.

afraid_of_zombies,

Oh because there wasn’t a direct bus or train route from where I was to where I wanted to go. It was Long Island.

afraid_of_zombies,

He was running a newspaper before he hit puberty, what have you done of equal note?

afraid_of_zombies,

Economics is all opinion so feel free to just voice your own.

afraid_of_zombies,

So my rent and health insurance rates went down?

afraid_of_zombies,

In that case this isn’t uplifting news.

afraid_of_zombies,

We redefined it so now the numbers look better. The end.
