Where’d you get that idea?

agamemnonymous, (edited )
@agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works avatar

No, but I’m not sure how it’s relevant to a conversation about invisible beings. I suppose you suspect that information beyond your ability to sense is impossible, your love of science and rationality has twisted into science fundamentalism.

You remind me of myself in my youth. Humility certainly gets easier with age. I recommend dialing back the antagonism a bit, I warn you that in 10, 15 years you’re going to look back and cringe.

If you’re anything like I was, that warning won’t make a difference though. It’s strange being on the other side. I wish it could be otherwise, but it’s unlikely. I suppose if there were a way to effectively communicate this, then I could’ve been spared a great deal of bitterness when I was younger. Alas.

Cool, I agree. But moderately better politicians like Bernie calling out crony capitalism is better than not. Labor is still free to organize.

There are a bunch of different varieties! Sometimes the bumps on smaller cukes will even have little spikes.

That is the implication of

not having kids, is the best environmental friendly option of them all.

agamemnonymous,
@agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works avatar

Sure. But your framing of not having children as “environmentally friendly”, if embraced, results in only the unconscientious people having kids. That’s literally the premise of Idiocracy.

agamemnonymous,
@agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works avatar

As I’ve said, if you convince everyone who considers their environmental impact to not have children, who does that leave having children? What becomes of the environment when it’s only the environmentally negligent raising future generations?

Capitalism isn’t about freedom, it’s about exploitation. The “freedom” it prioritizes is the freedom of individuals to lay private claim to the value of public resources (land, natural resources, etc), then use their control of those resources to lay claim to the value of the labor of others (the employee/employer relationship). It’s literally parasitism.

Capitalism is the “freedom” to extract profit. Profit is the difference between the price you sell something for, and the cost to produce it. It naturally results in paying employees less than the value of their labor, and/or charging the customer more than the value of a product. It is fundamentally a grift, profiting by skimming off value as a middleman. The freedom of the capitalist comes fundamentally at the restriction of freedom of everyone else, the majority “averages down”, that’s just a mathematical truth.

The longer capitalism exists, the more “freedom” is siphoned into generational wealth, and the more extreme inequality becomes. Capitalists gain the freedom to live a luxurious life without actually doing any work, while everyone else loses the freedom to use land and natural resources. It’s literally just “dibs” metastasized.

You would think so, wouldn’t you? But how is it any different than fast food, porn, or trash tv?

agamemnonymous,
@agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works avatar

If the owner did they occupy a class position as a worker and owner.

Yup. Employers are entitled to a portion of total revenue proportional to the value they added. In the case of employers who perform necessary work, including administrative/clerical work, this can be a healthy sum. In the case of employers who solely fit the capitalist role of investor, this amount is $0.

I wouldn’t be surprised, especially for A-listers, especially on-set. Eye-contact promotes conversations which, even when they are more stimulating than “Oh wow! You’re _____!! I loved you in that thing”, eat up time in a very busy production schedule. It’s even worse if the star is genuinely nice and personable, and sincerely appreciates their fans. It adds up to hours gone every day in 3-6 minute increments.

You can’t restrain the bad without crippling the good

That part. “People should…” is an impotent sentiment. How do you incentivize, or force, a regression to “sufficient” technology? How do you do so without affecting beneficial network technology?
