Haven't seen them all, but I'm going to pick Machete.

He's really good in Desperado too, that would be a solid choice.

Strange take.

We all want an ICJ case opened because we do care about civilian deaths.

South Africa are the ones who opened it, we're happy with them. Nothing wrong with that.

Even before the LLMs, back when I was on reddit I would sometimes see conversations between bots that were 3 or 4 bots replying to each other with scraped content (usually in the personal advice subs) and getting upvotes.

I only noticed because I used to hunt bots as a hobby.

Here is a Ghost Archive link to the original story which includes satelite imagery.

They were bulldozed to flat, featureless earth, the word "razed" is accurate in this context.

He criticizes their war crimes with one hand but with the other hand he gives them billions of dollars to help them commit more.

Netanyahu said in a statement on Tuesday that Israel had received "full backing" from the U.S. for its ground incursion into Gaza and that Washington had blocked "international pressure to stop the war."

Maybe they mean this sort of thing.

It's also weapons. Many of which are sold as "battle tested" because they were tested in Palestine.

livus,
@livus@kbin.social avatar

Israel sells billions worth of weapons a year, sometimes to repressive regimes like the Myanmar junta.

It also innovates quite heavily in that space.

I have been noticing a number of doctors mentioning a new kind of burn on children in Gaza. Israel routinely deploys new weapons there, and this may well be a new example of testing experimental weapons in Gaza

I don't agree with this characterization at all.

Here in the fediverse there are many people with opinions similar to mine, i.e we are on the side of civillians, not any of the belligerents in this hellscape of war crimes.

IDF are the good guys

Narrator: ...they weren't.

It's true, there are no downvotes on Beehaw. It doesn't accept them or federate them.

However, people from other instances see a downvote button and it registers downvotes - but only from people on their own instance.

@fosforus and @idiocracy are probably looking at those figures and mistaking it for over-all numbers.

The Best Cinematography of 2023 (thefilmstage.com)

“A cinematographer is a visual psychiatrist–moving an audience through a movie […] making them think the way you want them to think, painting pictures in the dark,” said the late, great Gordon Willis. As our year-end coverage continues, we must pay dues. From talented newcomers to seasoned professionals, we’ve rounded...

On TikTok, the war in Gaza is a game (english.elpais.com)

One of the TikTok trends is to show the process of loading a projectile into a tank and firing it. Another is to put trance music to a video, along with the words “2-3, sha-ger.” This is the order that a military drone operator is given to drop a bomb, with the syllables separated so that the message is clear. The trend...

Holy shit that's horrendous. And not such a propaganda win as they might think.

Tiktok also has millions of young people who support Palestine. You can't search directly but they pop up all over the place, often with a watermelon filter.

If the IDF are flooding TikTok with war-crime-adjacent content it's no wonder the majority of Gen Z is so opposed to Israel.

@mrnotoriousman yeah it's aesthetically pleasing too.

Alright, I'm gonna "take one for the team" -- what is with the "downvote-happy" users lately?

Title. “lmao internet points” and all, but what is the point of participating in a community that sees assumptions and other commonly non-harmful commentaries/posts as “bad” this easily? Do folks in here are really that needy of self-validation, even if it means seeking such from something completely insignificant like...

The “Hunt for Hamas” Narrative Is Obscuring Israel’s Real Plans for Gaza (www.thenation.com)

America’s media and political class is analyzing, debating, and shaping a narrative in Gaza that’s entirely different from the one being discussed in Israeli media and among Israeli political leaders. This gap, born from casual racism, deliberate credulity, and reflexive alignment with the US government’s party line, is...

We have seen 20 minutes of 'Dune II' with Villeneuve and we have good news: the expectation is more than justified (www.ruetir.com)

Last November we had the opportunity to attend an exclusive twenty-minute screening of ‘Dune: Part II’, the highly anticipated second installment of the monumental adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction classic that Denis Villeneuve is carrying out. Of course, it is early to give an opinion, but we can assure that...

@mhague I had the opposite problem, I felt like the pacing was off because it drags in the second act. I still want to see part 2 though.

@mhague yeah it was spectacular to look at and I felt it was just getting interesting.

Except for that woman behind Zucks shoulder who looks like an evil henchman. At least that's an actual human expression.
