that's fine if you have the patience for their shipping shenanigans. they sit on orders for days and/or ship from distant warehouses when you don't have the prime sub.

[Discussion] How do you feel about age verification on Porn sites? (lemmings.world)

Porn sites Pornhub, XVideos, and Stripchat face stricter requirements to verify the ages of their users after being officially designated as “Very Large Online Platforms” (VLOPs) under the European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA)....

give it time. the government (us) wants to put interlock gadgets into every new car to prevent drunks from driving. driving under the influence is illegal and those that do are more likely to kill someone. so is driving without a license, and so are those drivers.

how are you traveling? snakes on a plane; airplane!; speed; planes, trains and automobiles; air force one; pelham 123..., all good 'pre-trip' movies, and each worthy of a re-watch.

iirc, netflix requires the os's drm and browser for 1080p and higher. safari on apple, chrome on android, edge (plus perhaps newer cpu) on windows. third-party browsers (and linux as there is no native os drm) limited to 720p.

rooted Android phone

that may be the culprit.

currently cinnamon on mint and manjaro, plus rpi desktop in a couple vm. also use console-only debian and dietpi.

the higher profit margin "not from concentrate" also exists and is what's advertised more.

have several systems and vm (all x64, don't have any sbc here) running dietpi. love it.

saw https://runtipi.io/ posted elsewhere recently. which essentially results in the same thing, but is based on docker.

i'll let you know...

when i get one. still using a flipper. i don't "need" the internet in my pocket, and i love going weeks between charges.

How to bypass a metered connection?

In North America, using Xfinity for reference. I want to create both a home NAS and offline Wiki/media backup. Problem is to get the amount of data I need would blow through my plan and throttle my speed. I guess I could try and do it over a longer period or download just before the billing cycle renews so even if I go over it...

leeching off a public wifi will be less reliable, probably significantly slower, and possibly subject to (unknown to you) use limits of their own.

pretty sure your provider has an unlimited option for a little more per-month. just upgrade to that for awhile, then go back to the capped plan when you're no longer going over its limit.

if you need to stay within a provider's monthly limit, just set 'speed limits' on your downloads so you won't go over for a month, and also so you have some bandwidth, and quota, leftover for other online 'activities'.

ublock origin is published to the addon 'store' for edge and opera, in addition to mozilla's (firefox and thunderbird) and chrome. links to all are on the repo's main page https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock

i avoid google as much as possible.

my new (last year) phone is android, but it's a basic flipper. no apps or play store, no internets, not even an account needed for it. don't know what i'll do for a wireless phone when this type is no longer available.

i use gmail for one work-related email, because i need one that's not hosted on one of our own domains, but i mostly use a mail client for it.

i do not use anything else related to google, except for consuming yt videos in a private browser session with ad and script blockers and a couple userscripts--and no login.

i use duck for most of my searching. when i need to test something in a chromium-based browser, or want to utilize browser addons that are not available for firefox, i use a new portable install of opera or vivaldi and delete it when i'm done (right now, i've got one set up to watch a streaming service, using an addon to autoplay).

it's not 'communist'.

they (rh) can charge all they want, that is allowed. but denying those who do pay the rights granted by gpl (et al.) is not.
