Nerd, truck driver, and kinda creeped that you’re reading this.

I run Tumbleweed on my PCs and Leap on my server.

It feels so weird to update my server after a few weeks and have like no packages to update.

bdonvr,

It’s a little bougie but I think we can solve this with some high powered springs

bdonvr,

Oooh sorry that’s incorrect. No I think you’ve confused “Chili” and “Chili con carne”. Chili doesn’t have meat, and if you add it then you have “Chill con carne” (con carne = with meat)

We have to be ridiculously gatekeepy and precise in our words, of course.

bdonvr,

It is possible to analyze the traffic leaving these devices, and AFAIK it hasn’t been shown that they are doing this.

bdonvr,

Parents got divorced, father remarried (stepmother). Then transitioned to female 🏳️‍⚧️ (still married)

bdonvr,

What on earth are you on about? You’re completely in control of updates and you can enable the root account and do whatever you want. It’s still UNIX.

Are you talking about iOS/iPadOS? macOS is nothing like this and I have no idea what you’re on about.

More traffic, and way less truck parking. If you’re not shut down by 4pm forget about it.

Out west I got longer loads, better views, and always somewhere to park outside of the cities. Midwest is okay but a bit boring, southeast isn’t much better than northeast.

bdonvr,

I don’t keep too many tabs open on desktop unless I’m researching something. But on mobile it’s just too easy to ignore. I’ve hit 1000 tabs a few times. It opens a new tab every time I click a link in an app. I don’t see the tabs unless I really want to. So I forget.

bdonvr,

$15/mo server rental, plus a few dollars to store backups on a separate service, object storage for media, email, and domain registration. Total $18.64

I have a home server that could easily handle it, but I wouldn’t want to put something so public on it.

bdonvr,

November Christmas music does cause me physical pain thanks

bdonvr,

I bring my trackball to work everyday, seriously.

bdonvr,

Or because one or both parties are very socially inept.

bdonvr,

In informal text perhaps, but in publications and such it’s still used.

bdonvr,

Language science/grammar/etc are all just observations of a natural phenomena, they are not laws to dictate.

bdonvr,

Unfortunately it’s not really a step by step guide

bdonvr,

Fuck these 12 hour shifts are gonna kill me

There’s a method of language learning - comprehensible input - that is basically this.

Though you need to start by watching/listening things you can actually understand. So start with Peppa Pig level, where they use basic vocabulary, repeat often, and use many visual aids, then work up to content for adults.

Trouble is finding enough learner level content to watch (without going insane). You need many hundreds of hours of content that you understand 90-95% of.

But even if you start with content way too advanced you’d be surprised what many hundreds of hours of listening to a language can do. Not efficient or recommended, but if they’re ACTIVELY listening to the sounds of the language they could pick up a lot of meaning over such large amounts of time.

bdonvr,

Uh huh. Sure.

If they actually had the legit pictures they’d be putting it out on every channel possible. It could only help their cause.

bdonvr,

pretty sure the americans that support Ukraine also support Palestine

I’d like to see those people square that up with this: thelemmy.club/…/90177c67-3aa3-4cb6-88cb-72c96b2a4…

bdonvr,
