From what I’ve seen it’s a bell curve most of the time. People grow up and stop being little twats and eventually get to the point where they start to become big twats.

The fact that a selling point is “censorship-resistant social media” makes me wonder how many right wing chuds are over there “just asking questions”.

I don’t know anything about it, just found that to be a weird aspect to market on the home page.

The first thing I thought of is that many times complaining about censorship is a dog whistle by people who just want to spew hateful opinions.

Didn’t mean to imply anything about the protocol itself, I don’t have any tangible evidence of anything negative about the protocol or people maintaining it.

I self host bitwarden currently, but have been playing with the idea of using Vaultwarden instead, just haven’t gotten around to uprooting my working system.

Does the reddit style format breed toxicity?

Does the reddit style format inherently make for a toxic environment? Or is it a culture of toxicity from the influx of reditors? For lack of a beter example, on stackoverflow, when someone down votes you, it comes with a comment saying how to improve. On mastodon, people can’t downvote you. Because controversy makes money and conservatism is filled with controversial opinions and purposely obtuse takes intended to spark conversation and promote divisiveness. That’s the grift.
